WATERPROOFING SAMPLE SUBMITTAL FORM

Introduction:
Nippura utilizes a superior multiple component marine sealant (GX MARINE SHINETSU) that
achieves incredible and long lasting bonding strength to various Aquarium Waterproofing Systems
and FRP Tanks through a solvent based primer system. The best primer for your Aquarium is decided
by professional testing at our NCL Facility. This testing involves the application of Sealant with various
candidate primers and sealant to the Waterproofing or FRP Tank Shell Samples. The samples are
tested for adhesive/cohesive failure under tensile destructive testing conditions both under normal
dry cure times and under simulated exposure conditions by long term immersion in hot water bath.
Typically the test will take 30 days from receipt of samples, and then another 6-10 days for the best
selected primer to be air couriered to the Aquarium Construction Site. (please plan accordingly)

1) All directions of this form must be followed and filled out completely or testing will NOT BE
COMMENCED until full documentation and correct samples are received. Do not omit any information
or ignore directions on samples listed on next pages . NCL takes no responsibility for delay testing
should information or samples be incomplete.

2) Samples must replicate the exact materials, color and finish that will be used at the Aquarium.
Proper waterproofing or FRP tank finish must have a smooth, even porcelain like finish, free of
pinholes, ridges, voids, grooves. No tar or cementitious migrating waterproofing samples are
accepted or recommended as final waterproofing systems.

4) It is important that the Site Waterproofing Foreman or Tank Fabricator receives a copy of the NCL
Shop Drawings, a copy of the Primer Report, and keeps on a record set of the samples sent to NCL.
Note that the most critical surfaces of the waterproofing having a smooth even porcelain like finish is
the area directly below and around the Main Seal on the water side of the Panel. Special Caution
also in regards to noting the waterproofing finish of inverted head and vertical jambs, must have the
same finish as those applied on the horizontal sill. (no hardened raindrop protrusions)

5) NCL Technician shall also bring one set of samples to the site to use as standard in comparing
finish quality with actual site application.

6) Note evenly previously tested or used Waterproofing Systems or FRP Tanks must be tested to
confirm that there has been no change in the chemical composition of the materials which might alter
the selection of the best primer.

1) Note 25 samples are required per the drawing below. Substrate can be steel, concrete, fiberglass
or other material but must be durable and able to withstand hot water submersion (12 days) without
material property degradation and waterproofing must have good adhesion to its surface. Clearly
mark the substrate side as "Substrate Sample # 1, 2, 3, etc" with Permanent Black Marker!

2) You must include 2 copies of MSDS and 2 copies of Original Manufacturer Technical Specification
with your Sample Shipment. (ENGLISH OR JAPANESE ONLY)
