Tracy Brown
CEO and Founder, Evil Genius Designs, Inc.
Tracy Kobeda Brown is the CEO & Founder of Evil Genius Designs, Inc., a spin-off company from the Entertainment
Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Evil Genius Designs’ first product, Get in Line Games,
focuses on mobile marketing via gameplay experiences for people waiting in lines. She worked for Lockerz, Inc. as
the Chief of Product Delivery and the leader of the company's social and content offerings. Tracy spent time with
Activision and is credited on James Bond: Quantum of Solace and produced an alternate reality game, The Deep
Sleep Initiative, which won second place at Indiecade 2009.
Prior to pursuing her Masters from CMU, she was a corporate executive for American Eagle Outfitters, a $2 billion
brand clothing retailer. During her time there, she served in various business and technology roles as the director of
information security and the head of IT responsible for building ae.com <http://ae.com> in the early 2000's. She spent
years as a technology strategy consultant and worked for Andersen Consulting. Tracy holds a BS in Economics from
The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania concentrating in Decision Sciences and Insurance/Risk
Management.
In terms of board advisory relationships, she was the co-chairman and board director of the Merchant Risk Council, a
non-profit organization that educated merchants on how to fight cybercrime and also served as a board director for the
National Cyber-Forensics Training Alliance (NCFTA), a non-profit organization for industry, law enforcement and
academia to collaborate on cybercrime topics. She is a professional speaker, has presented at numerous conferences
as well as at Quantico for the FBI and spends time leading the North American division for PC Gaming for the PMS
Clan, the world’s largest all female video gaming clan.

Rebecca Kaul
Executive Director of the Technology Development Center & Sr. Vice President, International Commercial
Services, UPMC
Rebecca Kaul is the Executive Director of the Technology Development Center and a Senior Vice President in the
International and Commercial Services Division at UPMC. She oversees the Technology Development Center with the
vision of transforming healthcare through technology innovation. To achieve that goal, she collaborates with ICSD’s
commercial and academic partners to bring the healthcare intelligence of UPMC into the technology development
process. Ms. Kaul is responsible for evaluating new technology investments and overseeing the development and
transition of these prospects into commercial opportunities.
Prior to managing UPMC’s Technology Development Center, Ms. Kaul led a UPMC joint venture, A-Life Hospital. Over
an 18-month period, she helped to develop a hospital coding product so powerful that UPMC capitalized on an
opportunity to sell its ownership for a significant profit.
Before joining UPMC, Ms. Kaul began her career in New York at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, eventually joining client
Swiss Re.
Ms. Kaul has a Master of Business Administration specializing in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of
Business. She has a Master of Information Systems Management specializing in e-commerce from Carnegie Mellon
University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with a double major in Engineering and Public Policy from
Carnegie Mellon University’s Carnegie Institute of Technology.
