STEM Cohort Series

STEM for Youth in Literacy and Workforce Programs

What does STEM have to do with ISY and OSY programs? How does it affect programs and staff? STEM
can be integrated into the classroom and youth activities, and in doing so programs may, also, look for ways
to strengthen staffs STEM content knowledge. Each of these needs can be addressed by joining our STEM
for Youth in Literacy and Workforce Programs cohort.

Strategies for Engaging Youth in STEM Activities


Description: Ever wondered what does an engaging and exciting STEM activity for youth look like and how
to facilitate it? If youre tasked with strengthening youth in STEM, join our STEM cohort by attending, this
and other sessions, and learn specific methods for developing in-school and out-of-school STEM activities.

Strengthening Your Algebraic Content Knowledge for Tutoring Youth


Description: So you have a youth that needs math tutoring, but youre not quite sure how to helpespecially
with this new way they do mathhow do you ensure it will be both effective and positive for each of you?

content knowledge in algebra and algebraic thinking.

Description: Tutoring a young person who struggles with math can be a daunting experienceespecially if
you dont feel confident with the new way they do mathematics. What are some strategies you could employ
to help the youth feel more confident in their skills? Join our STEM cohort, by attending this and other great
sessions. This session will focus on strengthening participants mathematical tutoring skills.
