Running Now and

Climbing Too!
September 2017 by Heather
Learning Priority: trusting other people to
look after me

It was only a few weeks ago that you took your first steps and now you
are running. Today you decided to race me from one end of the
playground and I found that you sure can move fast. Then you showed
me another of your skills. You climbed up the steps of the little slide,
positioned yourself so you were sitting at the top of the slide then slid
down. You were so excited that you repeated these activities again. It
was also a delight to see that you were not as dependent
on mum and were happy to show me your new skills.
You are learning to be independent and I love seeing you
trying to challenge your self.

problems, setbacks, or unexpected and unwanted results.

Toddlers are active, curious, and seeking to make sense of

their world. They enjoy testing limits, causes and effects

as they develop and refine their working theories. Kaiako

(teachers) support them by being attentive to their

interests and providing opportunities for both new and

repeat learning experiences.
