Preface
Servicing the Lenovo Storage D1024 Single I/O
Module
This document may not be copied or sold, either in part or in whole, to non-Lenovo
personnel.
Objectives
After completing this course, you will be able to:
1. Provide an overview of the Lenovo Storage D1024 Single I/O Module.
2. Describe the problem determination and troubleshooting process for the Lenovo
Storage D1024 Single I/O Module.
System configurations
Users can connect one expansion per internal adapter. The secondary port on the
adapter is usually not used (only two-socket configurations where the customer has a
need to connect more than one expansion and no additional adapters can be provided).
For the largest solution system, it provides three expansions attached to three distinct
controllers.
There is no minimum configuration and customers can add further expansions and then
use the secondary ports on the adapter or stack the expansions using the Out port.
Note: A filler panel/blank will be installed in the secondary D1024 IOM bay in SAP
HANA configuration. It is installed to maintain adequate air flow or cooling.

Parts installation
Bezel ID plate installation
The replacement bezel received from Lenovo will contain an ID plate. The ID plate will
be attached to the bezel prior to the bezel being installed on the storage unit.
The installation does not require any tools. The plate legs are pressed through the
bezel grate and then snapped in to lock in place.

Installation: ./install.csh [-options] [ -ru popup]" -a, for complete installation
Figure 14 shows 2x SAS controllers, 1x M5210 controls array on host and 1x M5120
that controls the D1024 JBOD.
Figure 18 and Figure 19 shows how to configure the MSM alert notification.
Since the D1024 is a direct-attached storage solution, all of the troubleshooting logs
would need to originate from the OS, MSM, or a DSA. The DSA contains the LSI
controller logs for all LSI storage controllers installed in the server.
The storcli application provides information for the JBOD storage enclosure. The
output in Figure 20 indicates the LSI controller (M5225) detects a D1024 with 24 slots /
HDDs with two fans and two power supplies.
Summary
This course enabled you to:
1. Describe the features of the Lenovo Storage D1024 Single I/O Module.
2. Describe the problem determination steps and explain how to troubleshoot the
Lenovo Storage D1024 Single I/O Module.
