The Fab Four : a Timeline

1960

- The band formed in Liverpool with guitarist John Lennon, Paul McCartney ,George
Harrison, bassist Stu Stutclie and drummer Pete Best .

- They mostly played shows in Hamburg, Germany

1961

-McCartney became the bass player after Sutclies departure .

-The group recorded as a backing band .

- Met their future manager Brian Epstein.

1962

-Signed a contract with EMI parlophone Label

-Ringo Starr replaces Best as drummer.

-All members contributed vocals but Lennon and McCartney songwriting partnership
stood out.

1963

- Number 1 Debut single : Please, please Me

-Followed but 2 more hits : From me to you and She loves you.

-Touring the UK . Their popularity generated frenzy fan reactions dubbed Beatlemania.

-Release chart-topping LP : With the Beatles .

-1st Number one one single o a Billboard Hundred Chart : I want to Hold your Hand.

1964

- Appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show / Beginning of the British Invasion in America.

- International Tour

- Starring in a Comedy with a Pop soundtrack : A Hard Days nIght.

- Release of the UK numbering LP : Beatles for Sale.

- Release of the US chart-topping record : Beatles 65

1965

-Second film : Help + feature soundtrack

-Recording of Rubber Soul LP amidst growing tensions / LP shows the bands lyrical and
musical progression.

1966

- Controversy arouse when Lennon commented on the bands popularity

- Topped the charts with the Rock record : Revolver .

1967

-Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band . The successful mix of dierent musical
genres contributed to make it one of the most important album in pop music .

-Meditational retreat in Bangor , Wales.

- Brian Epstein dies

- Successful soundtrack to their poorly reviewed Magical Mystery Tour film.

1968

- Animated film : Yellow Submarine + sountrack

- 1st single on their label Apple Record.

- Visiting the Mararishi Yogi in India

- Release the White Album inspire of tension filled recording sessions

- Lennon in love with Yoko Ono

1969

- Start recording LP Let it Be . Due to their unsettled issues, the album is put on hold

- The band starts to fall apart.

- Final live performance on the rooftop of their recording studio.

- Begin working on Abbey Road ( one of the groups most successful commercial eorts)

1970

- Release of Let it Be along with a documentary

- Lennon and McCartney begin their solo careers.

CCL : their musical legacy lives on in spite of the death of two of their members .
