First Grade Dismissal Procedures

Dear First Grade Families,

We will no longer dismiss each child individually; children will be dismissed as a class
and will be expected to locate his/her ride home. We do this for the first month to make sure the
students know where you will be and for the teachers to get to know who belongs with who.
Safety is our #1 priority and we will need your cooperation with this procedure.
1. Designate a meeting place at school (for example tell your child, I will be standing by
the flag pole or I will be at the edge of the sidewalk across from the bench). It is
imperative that you stress this procedure with your child and be consistent. If you change
your meeting spot please make sure your child knows it.
2. Inform us if you know that there will be a pick up change. You and your child are
responsible for the SACC schedule. If your child goes to SACC please make sure that
your child and the SACC office have an up to date schedule. If there is a change in
schedule please email or call your childs teacher. If it is an urgent schedule
change/dismissal change, contact the office. We are not always able to check our voice
mail during teaching hours.
3. Our 1st Grade Rule is as follows: If you can not find the adult/ride--all first graders
are required to return to the office. . Please remind your son /daughter not to panic if
they dont see you right away. They are safe and can always return to the school office.
This procedure will begin Monday October 2nd. So please talk with your child about
this new procedure. This is a good time to assess your childs stranger danger skills. All 1st
graders should know their full name, address, phone number and birthday. This is a safety
precaution. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Working together, this should be a
smooth transition.
Sincerely,
The First Grade Teachers
