STEAG PLANT TOUR

The activity weve been experienced was a very big opportunity for us undergraduate students.
The said plant visit was the first plant visit Ive experienced in my life and I find it interesting since
STEAG POWER PLANT is a big company which generates a net power of 200MW that is
distributed throughout the city of Cagayan De Oro and the province of Misamis Oriental.

When we get inside the main plant where two turbine and generator placed, I was amazed because
couldnt believe that it was that huge and hot. After that, we went to the Center Control Room
where there are plenty of automation stuff. When I saw the operators there, I say to myself that
their work was not that hard for they just wait for the command from the operator in the field and
they were just the said command on the computer but I cant say for I didnt experienced it. Lastly
when went to the workshop room. All the discussed measurement and calibration equipment in
our instrumentation subject were there and that time we were lucky because the equipment were
calibrated. I realizes after Sir Mark did the demonstration of the equipment that it was not that hard
to calibrate a pressure or any measurement equipment, since there was a calibrator equipment there
already. But I think the hardest part of calibrating is when the transmitter had a defect, since you
will need to adjust the found error. Sir Mark said that the easiest error to be corrected is the zero
shift and the hardest one is the span error and all he said were exactly match to the theory we have
learned from Sir Jessie in our instrumentation subject.
