Manually Verification for Requirement Validation

For project: Electronic Feed System

Design Variable (Engineering Requirement):

1. Total Cost

Category: Cost/Price

Importance: 10

Value: Min - $1 Ideal - $4000 Max - $8000

This design variable had been satisfied.

The total cost for materials that were used to build and test EFS is $3117.

2. Static Pressure at Outlet

Category: Performance

Importance: 7

Value: Min 300psi Ideal 350psi Max 400psi

This design variable had not been satisfied

The data analysis shows maximum outlet pressure is 284 psi. The challenge is the battery
performance inhibited full testing at the maximum rotational speed of EFS.

However, the pressure exceeding requirements have been witnessed in preliminary testing
of individual subsystems which is over 400 psi

3. Mass Flow Rate

Category: Performance

Importance: 8

Value: Min 1.4lbm/s Ideal 1.7lbm/s Max 2lbm/s

This design variable had been satisfied

The hydraulic system was able to deliver fluid at the maximum specified flow rate 1.46
lbm/s.

In preliminary testing of individual subsystem, a flow rate of 1.95 lbm/s have been
witnessed.

4. Mass of the System

Category: Weight

Importance: 4

Value: Min 1lbs Ideal 22lbs Max 25lbs

This design variable had been satisfied

The total mass of the system is 20 lbs

5. Operation life

Category: Timelines

Importance: 9

Value: Min 18seconds Ideal 20seconds Max 100seconds

This design variable had been satisfied

The EFS can easily sustained operation for 20 seconds.

During experimental, the seal pressure limit was measured as 500 psi. The seal life and
bearing life have been determined to be 20 minutes and 200 minutes respectively. These
measurements ensure the EFS can operation for about 30 seconds.

6. Time to Installation

Category: Ergonomics/Operation

Importance: 3

Value: Min 1minutes Ideal 60minutes Max 70minutes

This design variable had been satisfied

The time that is used to disassembly/assembly is around 35 to 45 minutes by 2 people
and 30 minutes by 3 people
