Last night there was a large gathering at the town hall

suddenly a scream was heard. The towns jewels were stolen

and many people were starting to show signs of sickness.

The most likely suspects were gathered up and are shown

below, one of these suspects committed the crime. Use the
evidence on the following pages to find out which one.

BINARY CODE MESSAGE
Computers use a code made of ones and zeros called binary code. The way the 1 and
0s are ordered allow the computers to read information and determine what to do.
A tablet was left behind at the crime scene. The police have examined the tablet
and found a message hidden using binary code. They need your help to read the
binary message.
Use the binary table below to find the hidden message.
Be careful and make sure you get the right number, a good detective
pays attention to detail and double checks.

FINGER PRINTS
Everyone has a unique finger print which can be used to identify them. After a crime the criminals
often leave their fingerprints on something at the crime scene. Police can use these fingerprints
and match them with the suspects finger prints to identify who was at the crime scene.

The crime was committed in the jewel room connected to the town hall. Most of
the suspects went into the room sometime during the night of the crime so left
their fingerprints there. Any suspect who didnt leave their fingerprints at the
crime scene can be crossed off the suspect list as they didnt commit the crime.

Examine the fingerprints below and match them with the suspects. The
suspect whose fingerprint was not found at the crime scene can be
crossed off the suspect list.

THE GET AWAY CAR
A famous scientist called Isaac Newton wrote one of the most important scientific
equations; Force = mass x acceleration. That equation can be re-written to Acceleration =
Force Mass, this allows us to find out how fast something is going to accelerate.

After the crime the criminal jumped into his fast getaway car and accelerated away
from the crime scene. The car speed away too fast for anyone to get a good look at
it. All the suspects cars were examined . The two suspects with the slowest cars can
be crossed off the suspect list.

A cars acceleration can be calculated if you know the force

of the cars motor and the mass (like weight) of the car.

Acceleration = Force Mass

IM SICK!!!
Some Bacteria, Fungi, and Viruses have the potential to make us sick. Many people who were at the
crime scene got sick some from fungi, some from bacteria and some from viruses. The suspects
were all found to have nasty bacteria, viruses or fungi at their houses . Not all the people got sick
from a suspects bacteria, virus, or fungi however.

Read the information about bacteria, fungi, and viruses below and then match the victims
sickness up with a bacteria, fungi, or virus from a suspect. The suspect who doesnt have a
match up with a victim can be taken off the suspect list.

DNA SEQUENCING
All animals have DNA and the way it is arranged determines our features, such as hair and eye
color. All humans have unique DNA and police often use DNA to help them figure out who
the criminal was. They do this by looking at DNA found in pieces of hair, skin and blood found
at crime scenes.

DNA has four chemicals, which are represented by the letters, G, T, A, C. Police look at the
order these letters are arranged to identify people.
