STAKEHOLDER: COMMERCIAL SHOP AND OFFICE OWNERS

Commercial and retail outlet owners are one of the key private stake holders in the
interest of regional development in order to increase their customer access and profits.
Since they are active users of the area, it is crucial to obtain firsthand information on the
problems faced by the strata, identify potentials that can trigger development and get
their recommendations in planning further action. The development of commercial and
retail spines depends on the accessibility to the region as well as the regions
surrounding land uses and infrastructure available. The shops in Chandkheda are
primarily located along the SH 71 BRTS corridor, the IOC road, the New C.G. Road and
Jantanagar. Smaller local stores catering to specific communities are sparsely
dispersed. It has been observed that there is no relationship established between the
ROW width and the development of commerce in the Western part of Chandkheda.
Hence it can be said that commerce development governed by market demands.

These vendors, shop and office owners are key sources to identify issues in the region
and their input could be strategic to give key ideas in the development of the region,
as well as reconfiguration of street network and design.

Below listed are the questions that need to be asked:

What are the infrastructural issues faced (Illegal parking, traffic congestion, lack
of pedestrian pathways)
What is the impact of built form on the public space? (Build to line, number of
commercial floors)

vitalize the region and solve the issues?

area?
