20171001-GWMWater (Chairman Peter Vogel) and Ors - Re 2305224
Sir,
hereby I note that I received no response from you regarding my 30 August 2017 and other
correspondences.
10 It is my view that I am entitled by the Safe Drinking Water Act 2003 to safe drinking water
and not be forced have only access to untreated water.
The residence on lot 12 is needing a lot of renovations and obviously the cost of this cannot be
justified where there is no drinking water provided.
It ought to be noted that the general Store as well as the local milk bar both closed I understand
15 somewhere in 2015/2016 and as such to my understanding there is no local sale of any drink
water (bottled and/.or otherwise) either as some alternative, albeit this should not be taken that I
implied this would be appropriate as an alternative.
The following questions were emailed to me from healthachievers and albeit they related to
20 Yarra Valley Water the same kind of questions can be stated, and I do hereby, as to
GWMWater as such I amened this accordingly
QUOTE (as amended)
Question 2: By what process does the Treatment by the above chemicals, filter the
toxins in the sewerage from the contraception pill, hormonal replacement therapies,
medicines like the cholesterol; blood pressure tablets other medicines - chemo therapy;
30 radiation therapy; toxins via vaccines; drugs like ice that may be dumped in the toilet etc..?
Question 3: If these toxic chemicals are still present or part thereof in the water delivered,
what is the cumulative effect on land/soil and can harmful bacteria/viruses/pathogens be
borne and/or inhaled? Who will be responsible for any liability?
Question 4: How do you measure the Endocrine Disrupting Chemical which are
35 found in recycled water and what amount of these chemicals will be present in the
recycled water when delivered? Quote: research "ENDOCRINE DISRUPTING
CHEMICALS - meaning: A wide and varied range of substances are thought to cause
endocrine disruption. Chemicals that are known endocrine disruptors include
diethylstilbestrol (the synthetic estrogen DES), dioxin and dioxin-like compounds,
40 polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), DDT, and some other pesticides.
As such what is sought is the difference of Safe Drinking Water provided by GWMWater to
certain areas and the untreated water to places like Berriwillock. What, if anything does
5 GWMWater use as processes as to remove any impurities/chemicals from water that it provides
as untreated water to areas such as Berriwillock.
What record keeping, if any, is GWMwater engaged in as to document all and any health issues
with people that may be linked to the untreated water provided by GWMWater?
.
10 My reading of the legislation does indicate that it is the right of every Victorian to have access to
safe drinking water and that where a water provider has issues not to do so it shall provide a
plan indicating how it will deal with any issues. As such, there is no such provision to my
understanding to simply not bother to provide safe drinking water but that a plan must be
provided where a water provider cannot do so, such as where there is a breakdown in supply, etc.
15
Is any fluoridation added to the untreated water and if not why not if this is a legal requirement
by the State of Victoria?
Where GWMWater provided untreated water to areas like Berriwillock, what, if anything does
20 it provide for to ensure that people has still access to safe drinking water for ordinary human
usage?
Where there are public facilities in townships like Berriwilllock then what, if anything, has
GWMWater provided for to ensure that such areas are provided with safe drinking water and
30 tourist and others are not left unaware that the public facilities providing water is not safe
drinking water but is untreated water?
Mr ANDREWS (Mulgrave) - It is a pleasure to speak in support of the Safe Drinking Water Bill. This bill forms part of the
50 government's strategic approach to water management, with specific attention being paid to water quality and risk
management as matters of public health. It is worth noting that this is a debate about public health and about making sure
that each community across our state has access to the highest quality water. It is also worth noting that this bill has been
introduced by the Minister for Health as a matter of public health.
