Initial Analysis

WDI_data contains data of different countries for many indicators/factors. All these
indicators can be grouped together into 5 different groups: people, planet,
prosperity, peace and partnership. Each indicator code for a country has useful data
regarding the indicator topic which can be used to study the trends of any overall
factor in development for the world. For example, to study the production of
electricity from oil, gas and coal sources for different countries, the complete data
can be filtered for indicator EG.ELC.FOSL.ZS to obtain data for respective countries
from years 1960 to 2016. The chart below is a good example of the same for North
America.

The blue line is the actual data for consumption of fossil fuels for North America
continent, while the brown line shows a linear decreasing trend in the use of the
same. Hence, by filtering out data for each of the indicator factors, we can see the
trends in development of different countries throughout the years.

Similarly, Study of Canadas GDP per capita (in current US$) can be performed by
filtering the data for indicator code NY.GDP.PCAP.CD and then filtering the
countries for Canada. The chart is shown for the data is the next page. The orange
Trend line clearly shows an exponential growth in the GDP per capita from year 1960
to 2014. The same is being depicted by R-Squared fit value on the chart.
