ABOUT PANJAB UNIVERSITY
Panjab University is one of the oldest Universities in India, established in 1882 as University of Punjab at
Lahore (now in Pakistan). Its faculty includes some of the most distinguished scientists and
academicians. It continues to attract celebrated scholars at the campus. Over the years, the reputation of
the Panjab University has grown to emerge as an institution at the pinnacle in innovative teaching,
research and community outreach. Panjab University has a long tradition of pursuing excellence in the
field of Science and Technology, Business Management, Social Sciences, Performing Arts, Research and
Sports, guided by the motto 'Tamso Ma Jyotyrgamaya'.
The university campus is spread over an area of 550 acres in Panjab University
Sector 14 and Sector 25 of the city beautiful, Chandigarh.
University has 78 teaching and research departments and 15
Centres/Chairs for teaching and research at the main campus
located at Chandigarh.
The University has over the years continued to create
beacons of light that have set benchmarks of performance and
efficiency for others to follow. By virtue of its focus on quality
education, credibility, achievements and philosophy, the Panjab University has achieved the status of
University of International Recognition. It has been delivering the promise of providing the nation with
efficient and educated youth to bear the responsibilities of the future.

ABOUT UBS
The University Business School (UBS) at Panjab University
has been imparting quality management education to
develop dedicated, innovative and effective managers,
researchers and teachers for four decades. The rechristening
of the Department of Commerce and Business Management
as University Business School in 1995 by the Panjab
University, symbolizes the recognition of completeness and
University Business School maturity of the Department as a center of management
education in India. The transformation from a Department
to a school has given it a distinct identity as a 'School of Thought.'
The philosophy of the management education at the UBS is built on an integrative value system. It is
motivated by duty bound work ethics, human approach and scientific temper. The philosophy of the
school is translated into a mission of creating wholesome personality of human beings with a view to
produce effective managers, researchers and teachers. Modern attitude, practical wisdom, knowledge
and skill relevant for management are deeply ingrained in the students.
The school uses rigorous multifaceted pedagogy with an effective interface with the industry to
translate the mission into action. It creates opportunities for its students to enhance their understanding
of economic, social and political environment to broaden their horizon not only to adjust to change but
to become catalyst, and to develop their power to conceptualize, decide and communicate.
The faculty of the UBS trained in India and abroad, has earned international recognition in the
industry and academia. The students produced by the school have made a mark in the world of business.
The faculty interacts with industry through consultancy assignments, management development
programs, and industry focused research and case studies. A good number of top executives from the
industry in and around Chandigarh take regular classes at the school, which helps in imparting
pragmatic sense to the teaching-learning process. In addition, management luminaries are invited for
special lectures.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The International Conference on Financial Services (ICFS) invites papers under the main theme
Creating Business Value and Sustainability to be held at the University Business School (UBS), Panjab
University, Chandigarh, India on February 23rd-24th, 2018. Innovations in financial services are one of
the key areas engaging academicians, practitioners, and policy makers at all levels worldwide. Existing
business processes are being disrupted at such a pace that it is often difficult to make sense of the
developments in the industry. The purpose of the conference is to provide a unique international forum
to facilitate the exchange of views regarding recent trends and innovations in financial services,
especially in a broader perspective that enables positive business value and financial sustainability.
Accordingly, the conference intends to explore the current trends, challenges, and opportunities in
financial services. Academics, researchers, doctoral students, and practitioners are invited and
encouraged to submit original research papers in all areas of financial services. The list mentioned below
is indicative but not restrictive and any other area related with the theme can be considered.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
We welcome theoretical and empirical abstract submissions. All submissions must follow guidelines
provided. Submissions will be blind reviewed. Following acceptance of abstract, full papers are due by
the specified dates.
The abstract should be of maximum 800 words, Times New Roman, 12 point, double space, containing
Title, Theme, Author information including address, Introduction, Theory & Model, Methods & Results,
and Discussion & Contribution. Authors given a conditional acceptance decision are required to submit
full papers and complete registration by the specified deadlines.
Final paper submission must accompany a certificate by the author(s) that the paper is their original
work and has neither been published nor submitted for publication elsewhere. All papers must be

There will be an award for the best paper at the conference. These awards will be announced during the
valedictory function of the conference.
Best quality papers are likely to be published in an International Journal.

*Authors of accepted abstracts must register and submit full papers by deadlines

The registration fee for the event covers attendance, program kit, lunches,
REGISTRATION conference dinner, and light refreshments. Accommodation is not
FEE included. Limited accommodation available on the University campus
will be provided on a first-come-first-serve-basis.
