Direct instruction lesson plan

I. Describe the class: 1st grade, 18 students, 1 with learning disability, 0 gifted, 0 ell.

II. subject/skill: Math with addition

III. objective: Students will be able to recognize problems with numbers added by 1. Given a set of 3
different problems where one is added to a number. Without any error.

IV. Procedures:

1. the tecaher will stste the objective to the class, teacher will tell students why it is important to
learn addition.

2. Ask students what they know about addition (kwl)

3.teacher will model problems with numbers added by 1 on the elmo.

4. teacher will call on students to come up and label the answer on some of the problems given on
the elmo.

5. each student will get a worksheet with 3 problems after that they will glue the worksheet to their
notebook.This will be independent seat work.

V. Materials:

elmo, worksheet, glue, notebooks

VI. grouping structures: whole group and and then independently

VII. modifications: Ld student will have 5 min of practice on computer for extra auditory and visual
practice on subject worked in class.

VIII. assessment: I will collect notebooks to grade, Homework will be to review a worksheet with picture
problems of numbers added by 1.
