As of the end of August, I have received Annual Dues from
five more members meaning I only need four more members 1

to submit their dues. Please take care of this when you can.
You can give them to me at the next official meeting October
7th or mail them to me at Pat Bielamowicz 2101 Columbia Dr.
Richardson, TX 75081. I definitely need them by October
20th so I can complete paperwork and mail them in on time. 1
The dues are $90. Please let me know if you have questions
or concerns. Those members who are attending October October
7th and haven't paid your $7 can do it that day. A check or 6 Celeste Craig

Guatemala and Little Dresses From DKG News

Marilyns program about Guatemala was
informative and inspiring. While she was
on her trip, she saw a great need for
clothing and shoes. As a chapter, we will
be working on making dresses for the
girls. If you can sew, please consider trying your hand at
making a dress. I have bags made up with fabric cut to
size, along with the elastic and seam binding, and
instructions. You are welcome to start with one of the
bags that are already made up. If you dont sew, and you
would like to participate in the project, we need colorful
cotton or cotton-blend fabric or a donation so that we can
purchase the fabric, seam binding and elastic.

Dresses to Guatemala,

Glancing through the Sept/Oct 2017 DKG NEWS I
noticed several different articles addressing
membership. Pg. 2 features Broadening our vision
of active membership. Written by Carolyn
Pittman, the current International President, she
notes that membership is expressed in different
ways, including but not limited to attendance at
meetings and that what may not look like active
membership may well be the MOST active
membership.
Pg. 6 In Making Members Matter notes that
Commitment may look different to different
people and in different circumstances. Making
members matter may mean understanding them for
who they are and where they are at any given time.

And on Pg. 8 we learn that DKG California State

Organization just chartered its first new chapter
Strickland Updates since the 1990s. Wow!

As of Wednesday, September 27th, Kappa Phi has

promised Strickland staff that we will be available for
volunteering every first and third Tuesday of the Thank You Note from Rose Kidson
month. 2

They would, of course, have liked us to keep our

previous schedule, but are happy that we can at least
do this much. I am still hoping to hear that another
member, or two, will step up and join us, but
understand that this may not happen. Please keep this
opportunity in mind and let me know if you can help.
You will not regret it!
