Produce Good Fruit Todays readings are focused around the image of a
vineyard. A vine grower works hard to cultivate the soil and tends the vines in
order that they may produce good fruit. As Christians we are called, with the
help of God, to tend to our hearts that they may be fertile and produce the fruit of
the Spirit love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentle-
ness, self-control in abundance. On Mission for The Church Alive! seeks to
make our parishes and ministries vibrant and effective seedbeds where Gods
gifts can be nourished and nurtured and more bountiful fruit can be produced. Dont wait to prepare
your heart for the good work God wants to accomplish through you. Ready yourself for the changes
that are ahead and for the good spiritual fruit you can produce to strengthen the Church. Visit onmis-
sionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.

Anointing of the Sick ~ October 28th-29th (please note change of date)

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is for those among us who are sick and in-
firmed, those who are elderly may be anointed if they are in weak condition even though
no dangerous illness is present and sick children may be anointed if they have sufficient
use of reason to be comforted by the sacrament. No longer should we think of the Anoint-
ing of the Sick as simply Last Rites. The sacrament in fact is for the living. The Anointing of the
Sick is the Churchs provision for spiritual and corporal remedy. The Sacrament removes all sins and
punishment for sin even if a person is unconscious, however the person must be alive for the sacra-
ment to take effect. We will celebrate a communal rite of the Anointing of the Sick at all Masses on
the weekend of October 28th-29th. Please call the Parish Office if you plan to be anointed and let
us know which Mass you will be attending. Homebound who are unable to attend the communal
service, but would like to be anointed, are invited to call the Parish Office to make an appointment for
Fr. Bill to make a visit.

Support Group for Autoimmune Disease

Wed like to begin a support group here at the parish for those with Autoimmune diseases. Ive put
a post out on Facebook asking if there was an interest in the Mon Valley, and have gotten a very posi-
tive response. This group would be for patients and caregivers to voice concerns, share what works
for the patient and what helps us get through most days. We want to keep the group positive and sup-
portive to help those suffering, and hopefully bring some relief and joy to those lives affected by
these diseases. If you or someone you know may be interested, please email me at:
deaconal611@gmail.com. Praying well be able to start this in the next month or two.
