Trick or Treat

Rube Goldberg Machine

By Pranav Pannala, Lucy Ostrowski, Peter

Nebb, and Sebastian Orellana.
Simple Machines

Simple Machines are plain constructions used to create mechanical

advantages. They are easily made and contribute to many of
mankinds greatest developments. Here are some simple machines
that are in our Rube Goldberg Machine:

Pulleys
Inclined planes
Lever
Wedge
Screw
The Physics of the Machine
This is a description of how each step works from a physics
perspective.
Energy Transfers

Rube Goldberg Machines rely greatly on the transfer of energy. The

transfers continue the cycle of the machine. They keep the events
continuing. Here are some energy transfers in Trick or Treat:

The movement of the broomstick causes the movement of the

dominoes. KE KE.
After being released, the once still wood block moves upwards. PE
KE.
The jack-o-lantern catches the marble and stops its movement. KE
PE.
The moving blade causes the marble to move forwards. KE KE.
The Rube Goldberg Machine.

We will now present Trick or Treat.

Principles of Design

Principles of Design are rules that when followed create artistic

pleasure. They provide a certain appeal to the piece. These are the 3
principles of design used in our Rube Goldberg Machine.

Contrast
Movement
Unity
Aesthetics

In the making of our machine, we decided to use screws coming in

from behind to enhance appearance and maintain structure.

We decided to go with a creepy/horror/halloween vibe with Trick or

Treat. We added cobwebs, a giant spider, jack-o-lanterns, etc.
The Construction Log

This is a day-to-day description on how we put together the machine,

and when we did certain steps.
Blueprint

This is the steps of the machine and what they do.
