Kolar is one among the five taluks of Kolar district. The taluk & district headquarters Kolar is at a distance of 66
kms. From Bangalore. The taluk is bound by Sidlaghatta, Chintamani, Srinivasapur, Mulbagal, Bangarpet & Kolar
taluks of Kolar district and Hoskote taluk of Bangalore Rural District. The taluk geographically lies between 78o 17 5
& 770 56 15 longitude and 13o 1 46 & 13o 18 8 latitude. The geographical area of the taluk is 793 square
kilometers.
Kolar taluk comes under Kolar sub-division. This taluk is further divided into seven hobbilies, viz. Kolar, Vokkaleri,
Vernagal, Narasapur, Sugatoor, Holur and Huthur. There are 327 inhabited villages with one town. Kolar town is the
Taluk Headquarters. All the district & taluk level Departments are located in Kolar town.
Bangarpet
Bangarpet is one among the five taluks of Kolar district. The Taluk headquarters is at a distance of 18 kms from the
district headquarters and 82 kms from Bangalore. The taluk is bound by Malur, Kolar & Mulbagal taluks of Kolar
district; Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh and Salem & Dharmapuri districts of Tamilnadu. The taluk geographically
lies between 78o 283 11 & 78o 5 50 longitude and 12o 45 40 & 13o 4 54 latitude. The geographical area of the
Bangarpet taluk comes under Kolar sub-division. This Taluk is further divided into six hoblies, viz. Bangarpet,
Robertsonpet, Kyasamballi, Bethamangala, Kammasandsra and Budikote. There are 355 inhabited villages with three
towns. Bangarpet town is the Taluk Headquarters. All the Taluk level Departments are located in Bangarpet,
Malur
The taluk headquarters is at a distance of 32 kms from the district headquarters and 47 kms from Bangalore. The
taluk is bound by Malur & Bangarpet taluks of Malur district, Hoskote taluk Bangalore Rural district and Salem district
of Tamilnadu. The taluk geographically lies between 78o 8 3 & 77o 50 24 longitude and 12o 48 24 & 13o 6 57
Malur taluk comes under Kolar sub-division. This taluk is further divided into four hobbilies, viz. Malur, Lakkur, Masthi
and Tekal. There are 306 inhabited villages with one town. Malur town is the Taluk Headquarters. All the taluk level
Srinivaspura
The taluk headquarters is at a distance of 24 kms from the district headquarters and 90 kms from Bangalore. The
taluk is bound by Kolar, Mulbagal & Chintamani taluks of Kolar district and Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh. The
taluk geographically lies between 78o 6 40 & 78o 24 26 longitude and 13o 12 57 & 13o 35 43 latitude. The
Srinivasapura taluk comes under Kolar sub-division. The taluk is further divided into five hobblies, viz. Srinivasapura,
Ronur, Nelavanki, Rayalpad & Yeldur. There are 296 inhabited villages with one town. Srinivasapura town is the
Taluk Headquarters.
Mulbagal
The taluk headquarters is at a distance of 32 kms from the district headquarters and 87 kms from Bangalore. The
taluk is bound by Bangarpet, Srinivasapur & Kolar taluks of Kolar district and Hindupur taluk of Andhra Pradesh. The
taluk geographically lies between 78o 14 35 & 78o 35 16 longitude and 13o 1 5 & 13o 19 46 latitude. The
Mulbagal taluk comes under Kolar sub-division. This taluk is further divided into five hobblies, viz. Mulbagal,
Duggasandra, Byrakoor, Tayalor and Avani. There are 314 inhabited villages with one town. Mulbagal town is the
Taluk Headquarters. All the taluk level Departments are located in Mulbagal town.
Taluk Panchayats
Taluk Panchayats are the intermediate tier of the Panchayat Raj Institutions at the taluka level. Since 1999, certain
specified development schemes earlier executed by the Zilla Panchayat have been transfered and delegated to the
Taluk Panchayats for implementation.
