Chondrus Crispus
Chondrus Crispus
Chondrus Crispus
Chondrus crispus is a polymorphous red alga that has a curly aspect (giving it its name
crispus). It generally measures between 7 and 15 cm in length. It is very common in the
Iroise Sea, on the Atlantic coasts, from Norway to Gibraltar, and at the same latitude on the
American coasts.
Scientists at PHYTOMER have discovered that it is particularly rich in amino acids and
polyunsaturated fatty acids. They use its oily extract to moisturize and nourish the skin.
