Parameter Effect on removal % of Rhodamine B using Magnetized AC

AC Preparation
A solution was made with distil water and the mixture of spent tea powder and KOH was
kept for 12 hrs with constant stirring. The 12hrs time was the activation period. After the
process was complete the mixture was washed repeatedly till it became neutral. The neutral
partially activated carbon was then dried in a hot air oven for 24hrs. This dried material was
then put into the muffle furnace for further carbonization at 800C during which the material
developed numerous pores.
33 g of Fe 2 SO 4 .7H 2 O was dissolved in 1000 mL of distil water and then 6 g of the
prepared activated carbon was added. The suspension was mixed on a magnetic stirrer and
100 mL of 10% NaOH solution was added drop wise for 5 min to precipitate the hydrated
iron oxides. The suspension was then mixed on a magnetic stirrer and heated to 100C for 2
h. After cooling, the resultant magnetic adsorbent was repeatedly washed with water until its
pH became neutral.
pH Determination
6 Rhodamine B solution of 10ppm will be prepared.
At fixed temperature of 30C.
pH of each solution- 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12
Equal dosage of AC will be added in each of the solution. (0.5g/l) i.e. 25mg in 50ml
solution
Samples will be withdrawn after 16 hrs.
The removal% of dye will be determined using UV-VIS.
