A nonrenewable
resource is a natural
resource that cannot
be re-made or
re-grown at a scale
comparable to its
consumption.
It is a mixture of
several gas including
Methane, Ethane,
Propane and Butane.

It burns completely
and leaves no ashes.

Therefore it is
considered as the
cleanest form of fossil
fuel.
It is a clean fuel and does
not require a long
reprocessing.

It can be transported
through tankers or through
pipe lines.

It does not create huge

smog.

It doesnt have high

pollutants so can be
considered as eco-
friendly.
Oil is available
abundantly in most of
the Middle East
countries. Many
petroleum products
are energy carriers.
When burned, the
energy is released
and can be harnessed
for various products,
like gasoline, diesel,
and jet fuel.
Coal is the most
abundant form of
fossil fuel. In India it
constitutes about
60% of total energy
consumed.

The excessive
extraction and its use
has resulted in
ecological imbalance
and global warming.
The Nuclear energy is
not a fossil fuel but is
classified under a non-
renewable resource.

Nuclear power plants

use uranium as a fuel
to extract energy.

Since Uranium is lost

once we use it, nuclear
energy is considered
non-renewable.
Once sources of non-renewable energies are gone,
they can't be replaced or revitalized.

The mining of non-renewable energy and the

by-products they leave behind causes damage
to the environment.

The burning of fossil fuels continues to rise

producing high levels of carbon dioxide which
climatologists believe is a major cause of global
warming.
In order to maintain sustainability the need for
renewable forms of energy is increasing.

Continuous rise in the increase of fuel prices

also urges the need for renewable energy.

Unlike fossil fuels and nuclear energy the

renewable energy will never run out, therefore
it ensures sustainability.

3. Solar Energy
Renewable resources
are natural resources
that can be
replenished in a short
period of time.

They are directly

available and easily
accessed.
Energy from the Sun
Energy from wind
Energy from the flow
of water
Three Gorges Dam
Energy from burning
organic or living
matter
1 MW biogas plant in Australia
Energy from the
Earths heat
Krafla, a geothermal power
station in Iceland
Renewable Energy Non-Renewable Energy

Continuous Supply Limited Supply

Can be replenished It takes a longer time

within a short period of (millions of years) to be
time replenished.

Most of the resources Most of the resources

are fairly non-polluting cause pollution and
and available locally. global warming.

3. Solar Energy
As heat for making hot water, heating
buildings, and cooking.

To generate electricity with solar

cells or heat engines.

To take the salt away from sea water.

To use sun rays for drying clothes.
