THE

RESPONSIBILITY
This debate will solely focus on environmental impact and solutions to its issues.
This is a 2 round event; each team will consist of 2 participants.

ROUND 1
Rules
The teams will debate the merits and demerits of broad environmental issues such as
Ozone depletion, CO2 levels, animal extinction, etc.
Topics will be given at least 5 days prior to the event.
Each team will comprise two speakers- one For and one Against.
Each individual will speak for a total of 3 minutes. A warning bell will be
sounded at the end of two and a half and three minutes respectively.
Following that the floor will be open for a QnA session with the other teams. A
maximum of 2 questions can be asked of a speaker and the speaker will be
awarded full marks in QnA part if no questions are asked. No direct arguments
are encouraged.
Individuals are not allowed to ask questions to their own team members.
Since it is a prepared debate, participants will be penalized if they resort to
reading out from a script.
The decision of the judges shall be final and binding.
Top teams will move to Round 2.

ROUND 2
Rules
In this round, even team members compete against themselves, as there are only
individual awards.
Topics will be given after Round 1.
