Analysis of Cigarette Smoking Pattern in India

As demographic dividend in India is skewed towards young people, who are very much engaged
in multiple tasks like work, studies, sports etc., there is a growing trend in cigarette consumption
in India. There can be multiple other reasons apart from work pressure like status symbol, peer
pressure, exploring new things or even appearing cool. There is also variation between the
cigarette consumers based on their region, economic status, age, job schedule and education
level.

As there are myriad factors affecting cigarette consumption, at the same time there are multiple
myths about the same. With this data analysis activity, we are trying to rupture this type of myths
and trying to get certain insights about the same. These insights can be utilized not only by
cigarette manufacturers/ marketers for increasing their sales or bitterly targeting their customers
but at the same time government bodies and NGOs can also utilize it create awareness among the
people to prevent them from cigarette consumption.

In this project, we will be floating surveys to know the abovementioned criterias. We will be
collating the data & then we will be analyzing it to get to different conclusions based on our
questionnaires.
