Warehouse safety
Please read this notice carefully as it is designed to keep you and all employees safe in the

avoid them:
Slips happen because of liquid on the floor. Keep all floors dry at all times, but, if this is not
feasible, put up a sign to say that the floor is wet.

The main cause of people tripping is objects placed on the floor and in the wrong place.
Packaging and pallets are two examples of objects which may cause a trip. Ensure that all
walkways are kept free of stray objects at all times.

If you are working at a height, and there is danger of packages falling, ensure that the area
below you is well marked, and that no-one can enter. Check whether you should use a fork-
lift truck to do the work.

Picking up things which are too heavy can cause back or neck injuries. Before you pick
anything up make sure you know how heavy it is. Also wear the correct safety boots at all
times in the warehouse. Sign up for a safety-handling course.
The areas in which vehicles may operate are clearly marked by thick yellow lines. Do not
walk or work in these areas. Report all vehicles which leave the marked areas to your
supervisor.
