AR Continued:
On Thursday of each week we will check
AR goals. If your child is at their goal for
the week, they will be able to bring 50
cents to class on Friday and buy a pop. At
the end of each quarter, we will celebrate
everyone that is at 100% of their goal.
Technology
Our room is an eMINTS classroom.
This means your child will be
exposed to and using a lot of
technology. Our classroom is
equipped with a Smart board,
twenty-five laptop computers, and
two cameras. Your child will learn
keyboarding skills and to use
different computer programs to
complete assignments.
Students may bring electronic
devices to school. These devises
will be kept in a basket on my desk
to be used at appropriate times in
the classroom. However, students
ARE NOT allowed to take pictures or
videos with their devices.

If your child is not going to follow
his/her normal routine for going home,
you must notify me or the school. You Mrs. Phillips 4th
can send me an email, send a note with
your child or call the school at 847-
4010. If the teacher is not notified by a

home according to their NORMAL 2017-2018
ROUTINE. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Your

Birthdays
Students are more than welcome to
bring in prepackaged treats to
celebrate their birthday. Summer
birthdays will be celebrated in May.

Homework
A homework/information sheet will
be sent home each Monday. It will
be kept in your childs Wildcat
Homework will be sent home each
Monday and is due at 8:00a.m. on
Tuesday. Homework for the rest of
the week will be to practice math
facts and to AR read 30 minutes a
night. Additional homework may be
sent home if your child does not get
their classwork completed. It will
be due the morning after it is sent
home.
AR Reading Program
The Cassville Intermediate School uses the
Accelerated Reader computer software
program to monitor students reading. This
program is individualized to work with each
students reading level. Each student
receives a book mark with colors on it that
will help them find books in the library that
should be just right for them to read on
their own. The book color will match a color
on your childs book mark, this is your childs
AR book.
Books do not have to come from the library
any book could possibly be an AR book, if
our school has purchased the quiz. You can
check on our school website to see if we
own an AR quiz for your book.
When a student completes a book, they use
the computer to take a short multiple choice
quiz about the book. This test checks their
comprehension of the book. Students
receive points based on their test scores. A
test must be passed to earn points. The
higher the score, the higher the points.
Each student has a point goal for each
quarter that is based on their reading level ,
and is assigned by our librarian.
Students in fourth grade are asked to read
30 minutes every day.
Research proves that for students to be
successful readers, they must practice daily.
