Activity 11.

2 Portfolio Planning Form 1

Course: Fundamentals of Theater


Grades: 11-12
Course Type: Semester

1. Kind of portfolio:
Students will create a Celebration portfolio, to showcase their best work over the
course of the semester. The artifacts they collect will be based on student choice.
The portfolio will contain digital photographs or video of student work, and will
be presented digitally.

2. Duration:
The portfolio will be a culmination of work, chosen by the student, over the
course of the entire semester.

NATIONAL STANDARD 1:
Students script write through improvising, writing, and refining scripts based on personal
experience and heritage, imagination, literature, and history.

Benchmark 1: Students construct imaginative scripts and collaborate with actors to


refine scripts so that story and meaning are conveyed to an audience.

Learning Targets:
1) I can write a monologue, scene or play using script format.
2) I can improvise a scene.

NATIONAL STANDARD 2:
Students act by developing, communicating, and sustaining characters in improvisations
and informal or formal productions.

Benchmark 1: Students analyze the physical, emotional, and social dimensions of


characters found in dramatic texts from various genres and media.

Learning Targets:
1) I can improvise various characters.
2) I can create various characters when performing scripted scenes.

Benchmark 2: Students compare and demonstrate various classical and contemporary


acting techniques and methods.
1) I can perform various styles of theatre.
2) I can identify different styles of theatre.

Benchmark 3: Students in an ensemble, create and sustain characters that communicate


with audiences.

2) I can demonstrate an understanding of the physicality of character and

Artifacts will be selected by the student to reflect their best work, as defined the
student. Artifacts included in the ePortfolio may include:

A record of the individual's input into group decisions


Reflections on individual responses (useful for establishing 'conviction')
Diagrams and sketches of skits
Stories and ideas for scripts
Cuttings
Reviews
Designs for flyers or posters, or other marketing material from front of
house
Research references
Sources
Photographs or videos of performances
Self Reflections

6. Type of individual work sample annotations:

The work sample annotations will follow the student work annotation guide as written by
the Saint Bernard School Music Department guide. The guide is attached as follows:

7. Student goal-setting component, if any:

Each time a student adds an artifact to the ePortfolio, they submit an exit ticket before
placing the artifact on the website. The exit ticket will automatically connect to the
artifact and be visible to both educators and peers alike. Students will also fill out a
submission form before submitting any content.

8. When students will review and reflect on the contents:


Students will reflect on contents each time a new artifact is uploaded, as
completed through an exit ticket online.

10. How students will share their portfolios, with whom, and when:

Students will share their portfolios with their peers during class, and with the general
public at the annual Cabaret produced by the International Thespian Society. The digital
aspect means that these portfolios are generally available to the public at all times.
