848 Geography: Geography For The 21 Century
This course will look at what prep school geography should be doing to help prepare children for the future; with
regard to an increased need for geographical skills and understanding in readiness for their move to senior
schools and GCSE geography. There will be four distinct sessions: the importance of updating your fieldwork;
digital mapping and mapping skills; the enquiry approach to teaching geography, and update from 3 senior
schools on the level of understanding and skills they would expect of Year 7 and Year 9 pupils.
Objectives: With the changes in senior schools to Geography GCSE and A Level and the increased need for
geographical skills and understanding as key requirements for pupils at 11 and 13 when they arrive in senior
schools, this course will look at what Prep School Geography should be doing to prepare these pupils for the
future.
