LAND- causes light to reflect= binary digit 1
PITS- absorb the light= binary digit 0

Single-session disc- manufacturers write all items at one time
CD-R (recordable)
users can write once, but cannot erase their items
WORM (write once, read many)
Multisession- you can write on part of the disc at one time and
another part

erasable multisession disc, users can write on multiple times
