1.1 OBJECTIVE.

A key objective of ADC Procedures is to set up a step by step way of handling the
job. It is also an analysis of associated hazards pertaining to the jobs and measures to
minimize the risks.
This procedure has developed to be applied and discussed before each job listed in
the contents.

1.2 SCOPE.

This procedure applies to Rig AD-32

1.3 RESPONSIBILITY.

It is the responsibility of the Tool-pusher and Rig Manager to insure all listed
operations are executed in a safe and efficient manner. It is their responsibility to
conduct a Pre-job Safety Meeting and discuss and review the related JSA, prior to
starting each operation.

Tool-pusher is responsible to ensure that each work permit has its dedicated JSA
attached to.

JSA to be reviewed and updated at least annually or


When equipment is modified
When processes are changed
When material are changed
When changing people/contractors
When there is an accident or near miss.

The Rig Sup. is accountable for keeping this document up-to date.

The JSA date and the crew should be same as Work Permit date and crew.

Preparation

Safety valve regularly inspected, maintained, and kept in OPEN position.


Must be equipped with a Handling wheel. The safety valve must be function
tested once per tour.
Review JSA/HARC.
Gray valve regularly inspected, maintained, and kept in OPEN position. Must
be equipped with a lifting handle.
Key ready on the rig floor, at the dedicated location.
Adequate crossovers ready for tripping operations.
Manual tongs are set according to the diameter of the tubular to be made
up / broken down.
SCBA packs shall be full and checked daily.

Procedure

1. Before tripping operation, all crossover subs needed (according to tubular


connections) should have been prepared and be ready for use on the rig floor. The
Safety Valve must be in the configuration described in the section Preparation.

2. The tool joint set on slips must be 2 feet above the drill floor level.

3. If you are Running / Pulling Out drill pipes in the well, follow the instructions from 4
to 11.

4. If a kick is confirmed,
Procedures Floormen on duty will use the handling wheel to lift, stab and
spin the Full Opening Safetyand
ValveGray Valve
on the drill pipe joint.

Note: In case of H2S alarm while well flowing, the floormen should first go to put their
Escape Pack, connect to the cascade system then taking care of closing the well.

5. Once hand tight, close the Full Opening Safety Valve with the key lever.

6. Remove the handling wheel.

7. Tight it at the correct torque, using Manual Tongs or Iron Roughneck

8. Stab, Spin and Torque the Gray valve on top of the Full Opening Safety Valve.

9. Remove the releasing tool from the Gray Valve.

10. Open the Full Opening Safety Valve.

11. Connect a new joint/stand on the Gray Valve.

12. Flow checking at the top of BHA when pulling the drillstring out of hole is a good
time to make up the Full Opening Safety Valve with the required crossover sub. The
assembly must be in the following configuration :
a. The Safety Valve in OPEN position,
b. The handling wheel installed on the Safety Valve
c. A lifting cap installed on the Safety Valve, connected to an air tugger line
ready to be lift up.

13. When a kick is confirmed while pulling out / running in hole the BHA, follow the
instructions 14 to 22.

14. One floorman operates the tugger while 2 floormen are in charge to stab and hand
tight the assembly (Crossover+Safety Valve) on the tubular in the slips, using the
handling wheel.

15. Close the Full Opening Safety Valve with the key lever.

16. Remove the lifting cap.

17. Remove the handling wheel.

18. Tight it at the
Procedures correct torque, using Manual Tongs or Iron Roughneck.
and Gray Valve
19. Stab, Spin and Torque the Gray valve upon the Full Opening Safety Valve.

20. Remove the releasing tool from the Gray Valve.

21. Open the Full Open Safety Valve.

22. Connect a new joint/stand on the Gray Valve.
