LAB 2: EXERCISE B

Tittle; Indirect Control System

OBJECTIVE
Indirect control is the control of an electro-pneumatic valve using
Intermediate component such as relays, contactors or programmable
logic controllers.

INTRODUCTION
Principle of operation; After push button is pressed double acting-
cylinder extends. As long as the push button is actuated, the cylinder
remains in this position. If the push button is released cylinder retracts
to its previous position.

THEORY
Large cylinders well as cylinder operating a high speed are generally
actuated indirectly as the final control valve is required to handle large
quality of air. In the case of pilot operated valves, a signal input valves
3/2 way either actuated manually or mechanically is used to generated
the pilot signal for the final control valve.
TOOL EQUIPMENT
I. One double-acting cylinder
II. One directional control valve operated manually by push button
III. Hoses fastened to the laboratory stand
IV. Electrical cable
V. Two electrical Push button
VI. One relay

SAFETY PROCEDURE
I. Do not start experiment without the technician or lecture
II. Do not using the damage equipment
III. Make sure the pneumatic hose is plug incorrect position and
should be deep though
IV. Store all the components at their exact place after complete all
the experiment
V. Setting on air supply to medium pressure (3-10 bars)
VI. Wear appropriate sloths to doing work
VII. Please obey the rules
PROCEDURE
I. Connect the pneumatic circuit according to the pneumatic circuit
II. Connect the electric circuit according to the electric circuit
III. Check that all parts are connected properly with each other
IV. Switch the power supply on and open the service unit
V. Press the switch S1 and explain what happens to the cylinder
VI. Release switch S1 and explain what happen to the cylinder
VII. Turn off the power, connect the relay as normally closed and
reconnect the power. Explain what happens to the cylinder with
and without pressing the switch S1

RESULT/DISCUSSION

CONCLUSION
REFFERENCES
I. INDUSTRIAL BOOK OF PNEUMATIC
II. PNEUMATICS SYSTEMS
III. PNEUMATIC AND HYDAULIC NOTE
