Prejudice In Many Different Forms

Note: The following is from the 1828 Webster's Dictionary with bold font and underlining for
emphases done by Bill Stevenson.

PREJ'UDICE, n. [L. pre judicium; proe andjudico.]

1. Prejudgment; an opinion or decision of mind, formed without due examination of the
facts or arguments which are necessary to a lust and impartial determination. It is used
in a good or bad sense. Innumerable are the prejudices of education; we are accustomed to
believe what we are taught, and to receive opinions from others without examining the
grounds by which they can be supported. A man has strong prejudices in favor of his country
or his party, or the church in which he has been educated; and often our prejudices are
unreasonable. A judge should disabuse himself of prejudice in favor of either party in a suit.
My comfort is that their manifest prejudice to my cause will render their judgment of less
authority.
2. A previous bent or bias of mind for or against any person or thing; prepossession.
There is an unaccountable prejudice to projectors of all kinds.

PREJ'UDICE, v.t.
1. To prepossess with unexamined opinions. or opinions formed without due
knowledge of the facts and circumstances attending the question.
2. To bias the mind by hasty and incorrect notions and give it an unreasonable bent to
one side or other of a cause. Suffer not any beloved study to prejudice your mind so far as
to despise all other learning.
3. To obstruct or injure by prejudices or an undue previous bias of the mind; or to hurt;
to damage; to diminish; to impair.

PREJ'UDICED, pp. or a. Prepossessed by un examined opinions; biased.

1. To judge in a cause before it is hear or before the arguments and facts in the case
are fully known.
2. To judge and determine before the cause is heard; hence sometimes to condemn
beforehand or unheard.

Some of Concerns About Happenings in Christian Groups

Prejudice &. Preference-- Ministry Choosing

“My brethren [and sisteren], have not the faith of Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with
respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly
apparel [fancy, expensive clothes], and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment, and you
have respect to him that wears the gay clothing and say unto him, ‘Sit here in a good place’; and
say to the poor, ‘Stand there or sit here under my footstool’: are you not then partial in
yourselves and have become judges of evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren [and
sisteren], has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith and heirs of the Kingdom which

1
He has promised to them that love Him? But you have despised the poor. Do not rich men
oppress you and draw you before the judgment seats? Do not they blaspheme that worthy name
by the which you are called? If you fulfill the royal Law according to the Scripture, ‘Thou shall
love thy neighbor as thyself’, you do well; but if you have respect to persons, you commit sin...”
[James 1:1-9] “For you see your calling, brethren [and sisteren], how that not many wise men
[and women] after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called. But God has chosen
the foolish individuals of the world to confound the wise, and God has chosen the weak
individuals of the world to confound the individuals who are mighty, and the base [simple]
individuals of the world and individuals who are despised has God chosen, yes, and individuals
who are not, to bring to nought individuals who are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.”
[1 Corinthians 1:26-29]
I am a “white, middle class, Anglo-Saxon” who for twenty years (until 1968) didn't know
that prejudice was still prevalent. At San Jose State College (California) in 1968-69, I did a
study on prejudice and preference. I defined the latter word as a personal desire usually in
regards to food or priorities. I discovered the true definition of “prejudice” is “a hatred or dislike
or indifference for someone else because of looks or background.” When one tries to force a
preference on someone, that is a prejudice too. In other words, prejudice is a wrong (sinful)
attitude problem, not a materialistic lack problem. Many of the Blacks and Chicanos agreed.
How many middle class or upper class “Christians” (even pastors) would reach out to those
who have used illegal drugs for many years, had bodies used for much tattoo display and
prostitution, and had criminal records of stealing and physical violence (including killing)? For
four years, “Barrios For Jesus”, a ministry in Albuquerque (New Mexico), was made up of a
pastor and other Christians who reached out to such precious souls, but no one of the two
economic classes mentioned above had come to help teach God’s Word and ways until God had
Sister Mary and I visit. I felt no fear. I had not prepared a sermon and just read and commented
on Scripture passages about true Christian commitment. They were so attentive for an hour and
a half and I ended the talk with the words of the hymn “I Surrender All” and 1700s preacher
Jonathan Edwards’ 3-paragraph statement about his love for God. 10 men came to the altar
crying and the others knelt next to their chairs. Later, we got into a circle for closing prayer and
“upward and onward” came to my mind. I felt more accepted and appreciated and I saw more
desire for consecration to living God's Word at “Barrios For Jesus”, than total of all the Christian
schools, churches, home groups, and curriculum ministries in my whole life!!! I would have
loved to have stayed there to minister until our Lord comes back, but my calling is to encourage
and provoke others to minister without prejudice or preference. “Barrios For Jesus” was very
successful because of Pastor Dan's compassionate “drive” without any apparent prejudices.

Worldliness, Abortion, and Agape Love

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man [or woman] love
the world, the love of the Father is not in him [or her]. For all that is in the world, the lust of the
flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” [1 John
2:15-16] “But whoso keeps His Word in him [or her] verily is the love of God perfected: hereby
know we that we are in Him…. Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us,
that we should be called the sons [and daughters] of God; therefore the world know us not,
because it knew Him not. Beloved, now are we the sons [and daughters] of God and it does not
yet appear what we shall be; but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him, for
we shall see Him as He is. And every man [and woman] that has this hope in him [or her]
purifies himself [or herself], even as He is pure.” [1 John 2:5 & 3:1-3] “In this the children of
God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosover does not righteousness is not of God,
neither he [or she] who loves not his [or her] brother [or sister]. For this is the message that you

2
heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of the wicked
one and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil and
his brother's righteous. Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. We know that we have
passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. My little children, let us not love in
the word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” [1 John 3:10-14a & 18] “And even as
they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind to do
these things which are not convenient, being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication,
wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity,
whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things,
disobedient to parents, without understanding, promise breakers, without natural affection,
implacable, unmerciful: who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things
are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them who do them." [Romans
1:28-32] “And [Jesus] said, 'Verily I say unto you, except you be converted and become as little
children, you shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble
himself [or herself] as this little child, the same is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. And
whoso shall receive one such little child in my name, receives Me. But whoso shall offend one
of these little ones who believe in Me, it were better for him [or her] that a millstone were
hanged about his [or her] neck and that he [or she] were drowned in the depth of the sea.’”
[Matthew 18:3-6]
The following are excerpts from Winkie Pratney's article “The Occult Root of the War
On Childhood” written in 1989 or earlier: “Tyre and Sidon were twin cities that became very
powerful and founded a colony-- a town the Romans called Carthage, or New Town. We didn't
know Carthage's religion until archaeologists uncovered its ruins. The Bible has many
references to the area of Tyre and Sidon. On the surface, it might appear that with all the wealth
and influence of Carthage, children became a mere inconvenience. But there is far more than
that behind the Moloch worship that developed in this “jewel” of the Mediterranean. How did
Carthage adopt the worship of Moloch? We don't know for sure, but historical archeology tells
us what happened during the horrible sacrificial rites this god demanded. The hideous idol of
Moloch apparently had a man's body with the head of an ox. Its arms and hands extended out in
front. In the idol’s lap was a fire that heated a metal plate. The priest would take a child, given
by its parents, and lay it across the outstretched arms of the idol. The child was bound so it could
not wiggle away. Other priests played music and beat drums very loudly while everybody
cheered frantically-- all to drown out the screams of the terrified child. Then the priest
manipulated the arms of the idol until the child was over the plate-- which 'was now white-hot.
Then he would release the idol’s arms so the child would drop to a horrifying fiery death.
Now, Moloch is one of the oldest names for the ancient deities associated with human
sacrifice, nature worship, and fertility. Others were Baal, Asherah, and Ashtoreth. As with
Moloch, it is difficult to find too much recorded about them in ancient texts. One reason is,
censorship. Early archaeologists who came across their sites of worship were shocked and
horrified by their discoveries. They found entire cemeteries full of babies that had obviously
been sacrificed in some kind of ritual murder. Some archaeologists would not even report the
details of sights they found in professional journals. Some even wrote in scholar's Latin because
they felt it was so pornographic and so ugly. That is why you so rarely found detailed
descriptions of the secret worship of Moloch, Baal, Ashtoreth, and Asherah.
What we know without question is that the worship of the followers of these deities like
Asherah and Ashtoreth focused on sexual reproduction. The “sacred” groves were places where
sexual immorality was carried out for the purpose of worship. It was a very attractive sort of
religion for people in love with money and power. You went to the groves for sex and food, you
danced in the grass nude, you had an orgy, and you made it religious. Then later you sacrificed

your children because, supposedly, these gods of nature had given them to you-- and now they
wanted them back. While reading about these rituals, what type of people do you think were
taking part? People with bones through their noses? Clubs and animals skins? No. We're
talking about a highly advanced civilization-- the one that ruled the world at that time. We're not
talking about primitive people. We're talking about highly intelligent and well-to-do men and
women.”
“You can see it in the news and media everywhere-- Moloch rearing its ugly head again in
our time. It is not true, of course, that every woman (or man) who chooses to abort a child, or
that every adult who abuses one, is overtly seeking Satanic power. But it is true that sin against
these innocents are crimes against God. Our families have become the victims of a spirit behind
a culture that convinces civilized adults to sacrifice the lives of their children on the altars of
convenience, luxury, and personal pleasure. Nature worship is back. Many of the same
apparently intelligent people who fight for the lives of baby whales, seal pups, and fledgling
Bald Eagles also demand the right to abort a human child. Who has blinded them to the
shocking inconsistency in their thinking? We are faced with a massive wave of both female and
male prostitution-- not unlike the temple prostitutes of the ancient deities we've named. And
today whole industries, take in billions of dollars on the systematic murder, torture, and
perversion of our children. Now satanic and gothic metal music encourages kids to destroy the
Church, ‘Worship The Beast’, and glorify the devil-- even to kill themselves or someone else. It
has all come to a head with satanic practices for power even -in junior high and high schools.
And once again, like long, long ago, the ritual murder of babies, children, and teenagers…. This
frontal assault is not a sign of Satanic strength, but growing weakness. No country, no nation, no
kingdom brings its ultimate weapons into service unless its back is against the wall. Hell is in
trouble. It is bringing out all its last weapons because it knows something that many in the
Church have not yet realized. The devil knows he only has a short time left. He's had to let the
lid off his operation and it has happened in our time. The occult explosion and the war on
children is a sign of the coming triumph of Christ.”
“’In the last days’, God said, ‘I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh.’ (Joel 2:28) We have
seen the targeting of children and childhood. We have seen that the Dragon seeks to destroy the
Child. But now, we need to see our times through God's eyes. He is the Sovereign Lord; the
‘times are in His hands.’ (Psalm 31:15) It is as if God looked down through history to the kind
of world our time has become. He saw not only the destruction of children, but the rejection of
the old, the war against women and the young, and the attack on the family. And He has not left
us alone and desolate. ‘When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise up
a standard against him.’ (Isaiah 59:19) ‘The promise is to you’ says Scripture, ‘and to your
children, and to all that are far off, as many, as the Lord our God shall call.’ (Acts 2:39) God's
answer to a lost and broken generation is redemption-- the renewal of love, purity, and trust in
individuals-- and a rebirth of the family where reborn parents and children begin to love each
other. God’s answer to the Kingdom of Darkness and Hell is His revived Church, which always
ushers in the Kingdom of God. He will bring about the restoration and redemption of the
decayed and demonically-infested structures of our society-- through His Church-- by
evangelism, spiritual warfare, and reformation. There is a wind of supernatural change in the air,
and in the darkness a great tight is dawning.” Read Ephesians 5 & 6 and pray.
