We have some exciting events coming up in June. Danielle is planning to

bring the fun back to our member socials with an obstacle course to
keep kids busy while we discuss club business. We have a hilarious book
to read this month for book club, and a field trip to Gilbert Children's
museum. Please check the events tab on our private club Facebook page
for all event details.

This month, we will bid farewell to our VP Crystal Leahy. Her family will
be relocating to Connecticut, where they bought a home. She will be
missed (especially from book club) but we are glad to hear that she will
have a MOMS club there to welcome her!

As kids are finishing the school year and summer activities are ramping
up, I encourage you to pitch in and host an event for MOMS club. Events
can be as simple as a coffee date, or a walk, or as intricate as you like.
Hosting events helps to keep our MOMS club chapter active and builds
support for our local moms. It takes a village to raise a child- lets keep
our village going for our local moms.

I look forward to seeing you all soon!

HELPING HAND S P R OGR AM

Part of the support we have in MOMS Club of Eugene is helping each

other during times of family additions, upheaval, and stress. This is not
just limited to having a baby, things like moving or illness in the family
also warrant a need for this program. Our Helping Hands program
provides moms with assistance, usually giving several meals in a time of
need. However, this program can provide more than just meals. We
can arrange assistance with child-care, running errands, even a phone
tree! We want all of our members to benefit from this program in a time
of need and we are more than willing to customize an
assistance schedule that works well for each situation. Please let us know
if a circumstance should arise in your life and you feel this program
would help you! Contact Tia Merwin (mailto:tiamalani@hotmail.com) for (http://www.hellowonderful.co/post/FRUIT-SQUEEZER-FROZEN-BANANA-

We are excited to continue book club in June with Confessions of a submitted by Sarah Burlingame

on June 21st at 10:00 am at Rachel Mitchell's house. All moms are I have tried a few strawberry jam recipes and this one works well for me.
welcome! Please see the Facebook event for address and details. Bring a It uses standing times, like an heirloom preserves recipe would, so it is
lawn chair and a dish to share! easier to get the jam to the correct consistency than with the average
jam recipe. I buy a flat of the small, delicate type of strawberry from my
favorite strawberry farm on a Friday and finish the batch on Sunday. This
recipe is from Ellie Topp and Margaret Howard in their book Small Batch
Preserving.

Favorite Strawberry Jam

4 Cups firm ripe strawberries, halved or quartered depending on size

2 Cups granulated sugar
1/4 Cup lemon juice

1. Mix berries and sugar and let stand for 8 hours, stirring occasionally (I
cover with a tea towel overnight)

2. Place berry mixture in a medium stainless steel or enamel saucepan.

Bring to a boil over medium heat. Add lemon juice, return to a boil and
boil rapidly for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and let stand 24
hours.

3. Bring berries to a full boil over high heat and boil rapidly for 5
minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.

4. Ladle into sterilized jars and process in boiling water bath for 5
minutes at full boil.

Makes 2.5 cups, about 4.5 half-pint jam jars.

Tips: Be sure to follow proper procedures for water bath canning found
here. (http://www.theorganiccanner.com/how-to-can-food-in-a-
boiling-water-bath/) Do not double the batch.

Do you have a favorite summer recipe? We'd love to see it! MOMS Club
has a Pinterest page with tons of recipes on there to share! Please feel
