Key Responsibilities Provide first-level network cable infrastructure design, installation,
including diagnosis, testing, commissioning and/or repaired.
Design, configure, install and maintain Cat5/6 and Fiber Optic
network cabling infrastructure to meet technical requirements
Develop and implement network infrastructure changes via the
established Change Management process
Act as technical subject matter expert resource to relevant
network matters for installation
Provide succinct and timely, up-to-date project / network
documentation; including marked up drawings
Monitor network performance, identify network failures, and
troubleshoot problem areas as needed
As it related to network cabling, maintain and update
documentation for network service / device mapping, and
installation records
At the direction of relevant Project Network Engineers, provide
support on network products, services, protocols, and
standards to remain abreast of developments in the
networking cable industry
Perform any necessary hardware and software upgrades
during the installation of the prescribed network equipment
Participate as needed in network analysis activities that include
assessments, tests and other.

Success Factors Success is measured in terms of meeting or exceeding schedule for the
installation of network cabling within assigned projects.

Core Skills As a minimum a Certificate IV in Electronics / Electrical and/or 5


years of relevant network operations experience on large complex
computer infrastructures
Significant experience working in the Network Cabling life-cycle;
consisting but not limited to the design, construction, installation
and maintenance, and removal of Cat5/6 and Fiber Optical cable
infrastructure.
Holds an Open Registered Cabler certification, specialising in
Structured cables (data cable Cat 5/5e/6 etc), Optical-fibre cable,
and Co-axial cables
Experience with high-availability configuration of network systems
preferred
Analytical Thinking - Ability to solve critical production issues
required
Experience with network capacity planning, network security
principles, and general network cable management best practices
preferred
Hands-on technical knowledge with networking technologies in a
large complex network preferred
Working technical knowledge of relevant network hardware,
protocols, and Internet standards required
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

Assignment Detailed a. Support assigned project with the development of suitable

infrastructure to meet project technical needs while ensuring
compliance with industry standards.
b. Across the design lifecycle provide subject matter expertise on
network cable design, cable running and installation
documentation.
c. Working across multiple projects provide support to all levels
of engineering and technician in the application of industry
standards for cable installation, modification and set to work
activities
d. Installs network by studying plans, manuals, and technical
specifications; preparing equipment, supplies, materials, and
tools, assessing installation site; preparing an installation plans.
e. Establishes data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and
splicing cables; installing communications equipment, routers,
switches, multiplexors, cable trays and; establishing
connections; programming features; establishing connections

and integrations; following industry standards; activating
remote access tools; coordinating with contractors.
f. Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms;
identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
g. Documents network by labelling and routing equipment and
cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
h. Repairs network by troubleshooting and repairing outages;
testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation.
i. Maintains safe work environment by following codes,
standards, and legal regulations.
j. Complete other tasks as required by the Tasking Manager.
