3.0. METHODOLOGY FOR ANALYSIS

The super structure & foundation are analysed seperately. The superstructure is modelled
in E-TABS with utmost accuracy to reflect its behaviour under various load combinaions
acting on the structure. As the tower- F is mirrro of Tower-A, Tower-A etab model is used for
analysis super structure and foundation.
The super structure consists of Basement + Stilt + 16 floors. The frame for the building
considered is that till first floor level columns, beams with few shear walls will be there and
from first floor level the columns/beams frame will be replaced with RC walls.
All RC walls in typical floors shall be 150mm thick except at lift and stair case wall which are
160mm thk and all slabs shall be 100/115/150mm thick in various rooms.

To avoid fouling of service pile lines with beams and to restrict floor height of basement to 3.6m
stilt floor slab under tower is designed as a flat slab of uniform thichness and
having couple of beams at edges and around large openings.
Driveway portion is conventional system

Flat slab is designing by using SAFE software.

First floor level is conventional beams and slab system and above this RCC walls and slab system.

For seismic analysis of the structure Response Reduction factor 4 is used and ductile detailing
is done for dual framed structure only ( i.e, for Shear walls, columns and beams only).
and for R.C. walls starting from first floor ductile detailing will not be provided.

The foundation design is done seperately from the reactions obtained from the analysis of
superstructure. Depending on the S.B.C of the soil and the loads coming on foundation
Raft is provided so that the loads are transferred to the ground below safely.

3.1. Raft footing on Soil:

2,
For design of raft foundation gross SBC considered is 246 kN/m based on detailed Soil
Investigation report(refer geo technical report -Project no.215051).
From S.B.C , subgrade modulus of soil is calculated and applied to the Raft in SAFE Software.
All the loads coming from super structure are applied on Raft footing and designed for
various load combinations.

The soil below foundation is modelled by defining spring constants with modulus of subgrade
reaction calculated as shown below. (As per Foundation Analysis and Design book by J.E. Bowles)
Allowable settlement = 25 mm
2
Gross S.B.C = 246 kN/m
2
Modulus of sub grade reaction = (246/.025) x 2.5 24600 kN/m /m

4.0. LOADS
4.1. Dead Loads:

Balconies, 50mm sunk = 1.0 kN/sqm

All the other loads such as elevation projections, parapet wall near staircase ,
wall load upto sill level in door/windows etc as per arhitectural drawings are calculated
and applied on the structure as uniformly distributed loads.

V b k1 k 2 k3
pz = 47 1.0 0.93 1.0 = 1.15 kN/sqm ( upto 10m Height)
pz = 47 1.0 0.97 1.0 = 1.25 kN/sqm ( 10m to 15m Height)
pz = 47 1.0 1.00 1.0 = 1.33 kN/sqm ( 15m to 20m Height)
pz = 47 1.0 1.04 1.0 = 1.43 kN/sqm ( 20m to 30m Height)
pz = 47 1.0 1.10 1.0 = 1.60 kN/sqm ( 30m to 50m Height)
pz = 47 1.0 1.17 1.0 = 1.81 kN/sqm ( 50m to 100m Height)

Force coefficients on the building are applied as per Fig. 4 of IS 875 (part 3)

In X-Direction
h/b = 2.04
a/b = 1.25 hence force coefficient applied is 1.20

a/b = 0.8 hence force coefficient applied is 1.20
These coefficient are applied on the walls in their respective directions.

4.4 EARTHQUAKE LOADS (As per IS:1893 - 2002 Part-2 )

The basic paramenters are as follows :

Importance Factor, I = 1.0
Response reduction Factor, R = 4.0
Type of soil = Medium
Damping Ratio = 0.05
Time period, T = 0.09 h / d
Time period applied in X- direction = (0.09 x 59.595) / 36.555 = 0.887
Time period applied in Y- direction = (0.09 x 59.595) / 29.26= 0.991
The seismic analysis is carried out by using seismic co-efficient menthod and
response spectrum method and designed the structure with modified the base shear
as per the clause 7.8.2 of IS 1983(part-1) : 2002

6 ANALYSIS AND DESIGN RESULTS

Super Structure

The Tower is modelled and analysed and design using Etabs software.
The columns and shear walls are designed using this software and the reinforcement is
provided accordingly. The reinforcement details are provided in annexure 7.1.2.

Raft

The raft foundation is provided to support all the columns/Shearwalls of tower. The
extents of the raft foundation are shown in the layout drawing as shown in Fig.3. It also shows
the location of columns/shearwalls resting on the raft footing. The support reactions coming
from super structure are taken directly from the E TABS output file of tower after analysis.
The raft is laid on soil at a depth of 3m from Natural Ground level. The thickness of the
Raft provided is 1000mm.
The exterior columns of Tower-G are resting on Tower-F raft. The drive way columns
beside tower-F are resting on Tower-F raft. Exterior Wall of tower F is resting on Tower E raft.
The analysis and design of raft footing is performed using the SAFE FEM package for the
various load combinations. The base pressures obtained from the analysis for governing
load combinations are tabulated below. It is ensured that the loads coming on to the
foundation are within the safe load carrying capacity of the soil. The reinforcement is provided
on the basis of design results obtained from SAFE.

Part-1
From the above table the total drift (i.e summation of all floors) is 11.3 mm
Seperation between two block requuired as per clause 7.11.3 is (11.3 x 2 x R/2)
= 45.2 mm
However an expansion joint of 75 mm is provided between three blocks.
