Why Is New Zealand Music Important
Why Is New Zealand Music Important
1. My views on why we should be exposed to both overseas artists and New Zealand artists are as follows. It is important that we get to hear
both kinds of artists so that we don’t only hear one type of music. The majority of overseas music(mainly American) will be of higher quality
since firstly they have the entire world to choose from and secondly their instruments, recording studios etc will be a lot more expensive and
we will have the choice of a lot more bands, a lot more genres and a lot more people..
1. I think it is important that everyone should be exposed to different artists to get a feel for different types of music and it might turn out that
you actually like this “new” band like recently I just downloaded some of Mums Arctic Monkeys music onto my ipod and she also downloaded
some Greenday onto her ipod and it is the only thing she listens to now. Another reason is that people listen to music for entertainment, and
because of that everyone has their own favourite music so if you get bored or tired of just classical music, say, then maybe you should try rock
for a new kind of entertainment and it might turn out you like the new music more than you used to and for that reason you should always try
new kinds of music.
Task 3
1. I completely do not agree with the law that radio stations should have to play a certain amount of New Zealand music on their radio
stations. For starters American radio stations don’t have to play a certain amount of music on their radio stations, the same as English ones. It
should be completely up to the radio station if they want to play lots of New Zealand stuff or play all the newest songs which have the top 40.
Maybe if no one was playing anything NZ it would be fair enough but that isn’t the case at all since people play a lot more NZ music than they
have to.
Task 4
1. Downloading and burning of New Zealand music: I am highly against it as it is ruining our music industry because CD sales are dropping and
downloading is increasing (21). It all started when Shaun Fanning set up Napster in 1999 where you could illegally download music. STOP IT
NOW (40)
