Building Analysis and Design according to Indonesian Code

ESRC, 2003

1. Building Model

1. General

- Building Parameter
- Building Storey Data
- Node Layout
- Floor Slab Data
- Beam Layout
- Column Layout
- Wall Layout
- Floor Region
- Beam Load
- Additional Joint Load

2. For Open Frame Model:

- Rigid Floor = No
- Floor loading using Floor Region
- Earthquake Load modelled as Joint Load at each node

3. For Rigid Floor Model:

- Rigid Floor = Yes

- Condensation = 3 dof/floor (for P-delta or dynamic analysis)
- Floor loading using Floor Region or Quad4 Slab
- Equivalent Earthquake Load modelled as Joint Load at master node

4. For Flexible Floor Model

- Use if void > 50%

- Rigid Floor = No
- Condensation = 3 dof/floor (for P-delta or dynamic analysis)
- Floor loading using Quad4 Slab
- Mesh size must be less than 1.0m to 1.5m
- Equivalent Earthquake Load modelled as Joint Load at master node

2. Earthquake Load Model

1. Earthquake Direction

- Two earthquake direction: 90 degrees, 0 degrees

- Direction Combination: Linear of two perpendicular directions
2. Static Equivalent Load Analysis

- Enter Mass Factor Data

- Calculate Floor Weight
- Generate Static Equivalent Earthquake Load
- Load Combination:
- Number of Load Case = 4

3. Dynamic Spectrum Response Load

- Enter Mass Factor Data

- Enter Spectrum Response Data
- Load Combination:
- Number of Load Case = 2

3. Design Procedure

1. Run Static Analysis

2. Run Dynamic Analysis
- View Dynamic Output File (*.BSH)
- Check To <= To,max, where To,max = 0.17 x NF
(Number of Floor), if not make it more stiff, run again
- Check To, To about 0.1 NF
- Check first mode = translation, if not remodelling, run again
- Check MPF (Mass Participation Factor) >= 90%,
if not increase NE (Number of Eigen), run again
- Check Base Shear >= 80% Static Base shear, if not calculate SF
SF = scaling factor = 0.8*Vs/Vd, run again
- View Building Eccentricity, enlarge eccentricity, run again
- View Story Shear, save dynamic lateral forces, run again
- Plot Base Shear Chart

3. Run Static using new lateral load

- View Support Reactions

- View Building Drift

4. Capacity Design

- Beam Capacity Design

- Column Capacity Design
