testing we used the biurets test to determine whether or not our control substance of 5 water droplets and 5 protein droplets when mixed with 10 droplets of biuret's solution would indicate a positive testing situation, which is indicated by the chemical color change to a light lilac as represented by our second test tube. The biuret test is used for detecting the presence of peptide bonds which are present in proteins by using Cu(II) ions to form a violet colored chelate complex with peptide bonds. Low peptide bonds will result in a pink hue, while a higher concentration of peptide bonds is shown with a darker variant of color.
