    - must be

    representative of a whole group rather than exceptional and objective (=representative): Unbiased.
    For example: vegetarian
    correctly measured
    sources identified give the up-to-date statistics and numbers from reliable sources

    - can be:

    cited in passing to clarify or strengthen ideas


    used in succession to emphasise the magnitude or seriousness of ideas

    Use the number suggests/implies rather than the number proves

    - should be

    used sparingly: only use the most important and illustrative ones
    explained clearly and related directly to the listeners
    rounded off if complicated
    used with visual aids to clarify trends if necessary need to explain the charts too
