OnthegloriesoftheRudrksabeads
121.SrNryanasaid:ONrada!Therearethesixkindsofchamana:(1)Suddha,(2)
Smrta,(3)Paurnik,(4)Vaidik,(5)Tntrikand(6)Srauta.Theactofcleaningafterevacuating
oneselfofurineandfaecesisknownasSuddhaSaucha.Aftercleaning,thechaman,that
isperformedaccordingtorules,isnamedasSmrtaandPaurnik.InplaceswheretheBrahm
Yajaisperformed,theVaidikandSrautachamanasaredone.Andwhereacts,e.g.,the
knowledgeofwarfarearebeingexecuted,theTntrikchamanisdone.Thenheistorememberthe
GyatrMantrawithPranava(Om)andfastenthelockofhaironthecrownofhishead,thus
controllingallthehindrances(BighnaBandhanam).Sippingagain,heistotouchhisheart,two
arms,andhistwoshoulders.Aftersneezing,spitting,touchingthelowerlipwithteeth,accidentally
tellingalie,andtalkingwithaverysinfulman,heistotouchhisrightear(wheretheseveralDevas
reside).OntherightearoftheBrhmanasresideFire,Water,theVedas,theMoon,theSun,andthe
Vyu(wind).Thenoneistogotoariveroranyotherreservoirofwater,andtheretoperformone's
morningablutionsandtocleansehisbodythoroughly.Forthebodyisalwaysuncleananddirtyand
variousdietsarebeingexcretedoutofthenineholes(doors)inthebody.Themorningbath
removesalltheseimpurities.Thereforethemorningbathisessentiallynecessary.Thesinsthatarise

fromgoingtothosewhoarenotfitforsuchpurposes,fromacceptinggiftsfromimpurepersonsor
fromthepracticeofanyothersecretvicesallareremovedbythemorningablutions.Withoutthis
bath,noactsbearanyfruit.Thereforeeveryday,thismorningbathisverynecessary.Takingthe
Kus'agrassinhand,oneistoperformone'sbathandSandhy.Ifforsevendays,themorning
ablutionsarenottaken,andifforthreedays,theSandhysarenotperformed,iffortwelvedays,the
dailyHomasbenotperformed,theBrhmanasbecomeSdras.ThetimeformakingtheHomain
themorningisverylittlethereforelestablutionsbedonefullywhichwouldtakealongtimeand
hencethetimefortheHomamightelapse,themorningbathshouldbeperformedquickly.Afterthe
baththePrnymaistobedone.Thenthefulleffectsofbathareattained.Thereisnothingholier
inthisworldorinthenextthanrecitingtheGyatr.ItsavesthesingerwhosingstheGyatrhence
itiscalledGyatr.DuringthetimeofPrnyma,onemustcontrolone'sPrnaandApnaVyus,
i.e.,makethemequal.TheBrhmin,knowingtheVedasanddevotedtohisDharma,mustpractise
PrnymathreetimeswiththerepetitionofGyatrandPranavaandthethreeVyrhitis(OmBhu,
OmBhuvar,OmSvah).
Whilepractising,themutteringofGyatristobedonethreetimes.InPrnyma,theVaidik
mantraistoberepeated,neveraLaukikaMantraistobeuttered.AtthetimeofPrnyma,if
anybody'smindbenotfixed,evenforashortwhile,likeamustardseedontheapexofacowhorn,
hecannotsaveevenonehundredandonepersonsinhisfather'sorinhismother'sline.Prnyma
iscalledSagarbhawhenperformedwiththerepetitionofsomemantraitiscalledAgarbhawhenit
isdonesimplywithmeremeditation,withoutrepeatinganymantra.Afterthebathing,theTarpanam
withitsaccompaniments,istohedonei.e.,thepeaceofferingsaremadewithreferencetothe
Devas,theRisis,andthePitris(wherebyweinvoketheblessingsfromthesubtleplaneswherethe
highsouledpersonsdwell).Afterthis,acleanpairofclothesistobewornandthenheshouldgetup
andcomeoutofthewater.ThenextthingspreparatorytopractiseJapamaretoweartheTilaka
marksofashesandtoputontheRudrksabeads.HewhoholdsthirtytwoRudrksabeadsonhis
neck,fortyonhishead,sixoneachear(12ontwoears),twentyfourbeadsontwohands(twelveon
eachhand)thirtytwobeadsontwoarms(sixteenoneach),onebeadoneacheyeandonebeadon
thehaironthecrown,andonehundredandeightbeadsonthebreast,(251inall)becomeshimself
MahDeva.Oneisexpectedtousethemassuch.OMuni!YoucanusetheRudrksasaftertieing,
stringingtogetherwithgoldorsilveralwaysonyourSikh,thetuftofhairontheheadoronyour
ears.Ontheholythread,onthehands,ontheneck,oronthebelly(abdomen)onecankeepthe
RudrksaafteronehasrepeatedsincerelyandwithdevotionthefiveletteredmantraofSiva,orone
hasrepeatedthePrnva(Om).HoldingtheRudrksaimpliesthatthemanhasrealisedthe
knowledgeofSivaTattva.OBrahmn!TheRudrksabeadthatisplacedonthetuftoronthe
crownhairrepresentstheTratattva,i.e.,OmKratheRudrksabeadsthatareheldonthetwo
earsaretobethoughtofasDevaandDev,(SivaandSiv).
2237.TheonehundredandeightRudrksabeadsonthesacrificialthreadareconsideredastheone
hundredandeightVedas(signifyingtheFullKnowledge,assixteendigitsoftheMooncompleted
onthearms,areconsideredastheDik(quarters)ontheneck,areconsideredastheDevSarasvat
andAgni(fire).TheRudrksabeadsoughttobetakenbymenofallcoloursandcastes.The

Brhmanas,KsattriyasandVais'yasshouldholdthemafterpurifyingthemwithMantras,i.e.,
knowinglywhereastheSdrascantakethemwithoutanysuchpurificationbytheMantras,i.e.,
unknowingly.ByholdingorputtingontheRudrksabeads,personsbecometheRudrasincarnatein
fleshandbody.Thereisnodoubtinthis.Bythisallthesinsarisingfromseeing,hearing,
remembering,smelling,eatingprohibitedthings,talkingincoherently,doingprohibitedthings,etc.,
areentirelyremovedwiththeRudrksabeadsonthebodywhateveracts,eating,drinking,
smelling,etc.,aredone,are,asitwere,donebyRudraDevaHimself.OGreatMuni!Hewhofeels
shameinholdingandputtingontheRudrksabeads,canneverbefreedfromthisSamsraeven
aftertheKotibirths.HewhoblamesanotherpersonholdingRudrksabeadshasdefectsinhisbirth
(isabastard).Thereisnodoubtinthis.ItisbyholdingonRudrksathatBrahmhasremained
steadyinHisBrahmhooduntaintedandtheMunishavebeentruetotheirresolves.Sothereisno
actbetterandhigherthanholdingtheRudrksabeads.Hewhogivesclothingandfoodtoaperson
holdingRudrksabeadswithdevotionisfreedofallsinsandgoestotheSivaLoka.Hewhofeasts
gladlyanyholderofsuchbeadsatthetimeofSrdh,goesundoubtedlytothePitriLoka.Hewho
washesthefeetofaholderofRudrksaanddrinksthatwater,isfreedofallsinsandresideswith
honourintheSivaLoka.IfaBrhmanaholdswithdevotiontheRudrksabeadswithanecklace
andgold,heattainstheRudrahood.OIntelligentOne!Whereverwhoeverholdswithorwithout
faithanddevotiontheRudrksabeadswithorwithoutanymantra,isfreedofallsinsandisentitled
totheTattvajna.IamunabletodescribefullythegreatnessoftheRudrksabeads.Infact,all
shouldbyallmeansholdtheRudrksabeadsontheirbodies.
Note:Thenumberonehundredandeight(108)signifiestheOneHundredandEightVedas,the
Brahmn,theSourceofallWisdomandJoy.

111.Naradasaid...OSinlessone!ThegreatnessoftheRudrakshaseedthatyouhavedescribedis
verilysuch.NowIaskwhyisthisRudraksamsomuchentitledtovorshipbythepeople.Please
speakclearlyonthispoint.Narayanaspoke:
OChild!ThisistheveryquestionthatwasaskedoncebyKartika,thesixfacedOne,toBhagavan
Rudra,devellinginKailasa.WhatHereplied,Isaynow.Listen.RudraDevaspoke:OChild
Sadhana.Iwilldwellbrieflyonthesecret
causeofthegreatnessoftheRudrakshaseed.Hear.Inolddays,therewasaDaityacalledTripura
whocouldnotbeconqueredbyanybody.Brahma,VishnuandtheotherDevasweredefeatedby
him.TheythencametoMeandrequestedMetokilltheAsura.Attheirrequest,Icalledinmymind
the
DivineGreatweapon,namedAghora,beautifulandterribleandcontainingthestrengthofallthe
Devas,tokillhim.Itwasinconceivableanditwasblazingwithfire.
ForfulldivineonethousandyearsIremainedawakewitheyelidswideopeninthinkingofthe

Aghoraweapon,thedestroyerofallobstacles,wherebythekillingofTripurasuramightbeeffected
andthetroublesoftheDevasberemoved.
Notforamomentmyeyelidsdropped.Therebymyeyeswereaffectedanddropsofwatercameout
ofanyeyes.(Notehere.Howenemiesaretobekilled.Itrequiresgreatthought,greatconcentration,
greatyogaandgreatpowers).O
Mahasena!Fromthosedropsofwatercomingoutofmyeyes,thegreattreeofRudrakshadidspring
forthewelfareofall.ThisRudrakshaseedisofthirtyeightvarieties.FromMySuryaNetra.i.e.,
Myrighteye,symbolizingtheSun,twelveyellowcoloured(Pingalacolour)varietieshavecome
andfrommylefteyerepresentingtheMoon,theSomaNetra,sixteenvarietiesofwhitecolourand
frommythirdeyeonthetop,representingFirei.e.,theAgniNetra,tenvarietiesofblackcolour
havecomeout.OfthesethewhiteRudrakshams
areBrahminsandtheyareusedbytheBrahmanastheredcolouredonesaretheKshatriyasand
shouldbeusedbytheKashattriyasandtheblackonesareSudrasandshouldbeusedbytheVaisyas
andtheSudras.
1219.OnefacedRudrakshaseedistheShivaHimself,mademanifestandrenderedvivideventhe
sinincurredinkillingaBrahmanaisdestroyedthereby.TwofacedortwoheadedRudrakshaislike
theDevaandtheDevi.Twosortsofsinsaredestroyedthereby.ThethreefacedRudrakshaislike
firethesinincurredinkillingawomanisdestoyedinamoment.ThefourfacedRudrakshaseedis
likeBrahmandremovesthesinofkillingpersons.ThefivefacedRudrakshaisverilyanimageof
Rudraallsortsofsins,e.g.eating
prohibitedfood,goingtotheungoables,etc.,aredestoyedthereby.ThesixfacedRudrashais
Kartikeya.Itistobewornontherighthand.OnebecomesfreedoftheBrahmahatyasin.Thereis
nodoubtinthis.ThesevenfacedRudrakshaisnamedAnanga.Holdingthisfreesonefromthesin
ofstealinggold,etc.,OMahasena!TheeightfacedRudrakshaisVinayaka.Holdingthisfreesone
fromthesinofholdinganillicitcontactwithawomanofabadfamilyandwiththewifeofones
Guru,etc.,andothersinsaswell.Itenablesoneto
acquireheapsoffood,cotton,andgoldandintheendtheHighestPlaceisattained.
2035.ThefruitofholdingtheeightfacedRudrakshsaseedhasbeensaid.NowIwilltalkofthe
ninefacedRudraksha.ItisverilytheBhairavamademanifest.Onthelefthanditshouldbeworn.
Bythis,thepeoplegetbothBhoga(enjoyment)andMoksya(liberation)andtheybecomepoweful
likeMeandgetthemselvesfreedatonce,withouttheleastdelay,ofthesinsincurredbycommitting
thousandsofabortions,hundredsofBrahmahattyas(killingthe
Brahmanas).HoldingthetenfacedRudrakshaisverilywearingJanardana,theDevaoftheDevas.
Theholdingofwhichpacifiestheevilscausedbyplanets,Pisachas,VetalasBrahmaRaksasas,and
Pannagas.TheelevenfacedRudrakshaisliketheElevenRudras.Thefruits,theefficacyofwhichI
nowdescribe.Hear.Thefruitsobtainedthroughtheperformanceofonethousandhorsesacrifices,
onehundredVajapeyasacrifices,tandmakinggiftsofonehundredthousandcowsareobtained
thereby.IfonewearsthetwelveheadedRudrakshasononesear,theAdityasgetsatisfied.The
fruitsofperformingGomedhaandAsvamedhasacrificesareobtainedthereby.Nofearcomesfrom
hornedbuffaloes,armedenemiesandwolvesandtigersandothermurderousanimals.Alsothe
severaldiseasesofthebodynevercometohim.TheholderofthetwelvefacedRudrakshaseed
feelsalwayshappyandheisthemasterofsomekingdomsHebecomesfreedofthesinsincurredin

killingelephants,horses,dear,cats,snakes,mice,frogs,asses,foxesandvariousotheranimals.
OChild!ThethirteenfacedRudrakshaisveryrareifanybodygetsit,hebecomeslikeKartikeya
andgetsalldesiresfulfilledandtheeightsiddhiesareunderhisgraps.Helearnshowtomakegold,
silverandothermetalsheattainsallsortsofenjoyments.Thereisnomannerofdoubtinthis.O
Sadhanana!IfanybodyholdsthethirteenfacedRudraksha,hebecomesfreedfromthesinsincurred
inkillingmother,fatherandbrothers.OSon!Ifoneholdsononesheadthefourteenfaced
Rudrakshaalways,onebecomeslikeShiva.OMuni!WhatmoreshallIspeaktoyou!TheDevas
paytheirrespectstooneholdingthefourteenfacedRudrakshasandheintheendattainstheHighest
Goal,thestateofShiva.HisbodybecomesverilythebodyofShiva.
3640.TheDevasalwaysworshiptheRudrakshaseedthehighestgoalisattainedbywearingthe
Rudraksha.TheBrahmanasshouldholdintheirheadsatleastoneRudrakshaistobemadeandtied
onthehead.Similarlyarosaryoffiftyseedsistobewornandsuspendedonthebreastsixteeneach
oneachofshetwoarmstwentyfourRudrakshatobewornonthewrists,twelveoneach.O
Sadhanana!Ifarosarybemadeofonehundredandeight,fiftyortwentysevenRudrakshamsandif
japambedonewiththat,immeasurablemeritsareobtained.Ifanybodywearsarosaryofone
hundredandeightseeds,hegetsateverymomentthefruitofperformingtheAsvamedhasacrifices
andupliftshistwentyonegenerationsandfinallyheresidesintheShivaLoka.

114.Isvarasaid...OKartikeya!NowIwillspeakhowtocounttheJapam(repetitionofthe
mantra)withtherosary.Hear.ThefaceofRudrakshaisBrahmatheuppersummitpointisShiva
andthefailendofRudrakshaisVishnu.TheRudrakshahastwofoldpowers:ItcangiveBhoga
(enjoyment)aswellasMoksha(liberation).Thenstringrotietogether,likeacowstail,andlikethe
snakescoilingabody,twentyfivefivefaceRudrakshaseeds,thornyandofred,white,mixed
coloursboredthroughandthrough.Therosaryistotaperasacowstailtapersdown.Instringing
thebeadsintoarosary,itshouldbeseenthattheflatfaceofoneRudrakshamisinfrontoftheflat
faceofanotherRudrakshasothetail,thepointedendofone,mustcomeinfrontofthe
tailorthenarrowerendofanother.TheMeruorthetopmostbeadofthestringmusthaveitsface
turnedupwardsandtheknotshouldbegivenoverthat.Therosary,thusstrungs,yieldssuccessof
themantra(mantrasiddhi).Whentherosaryisstrung,itistobebathedwithclearandscentedwater
andafterwardswiththePanchagavya(cowdung,cowurine,curd,milk,andghee)thenwashit
withclearwaterandsanctifyitwiththecondensedelectricalchargeoftheMantra.Thenrecitethe
MantraofShiva(Sixlimbed,withHumadded
andcollecttherosaries.ThenrepeatoverthemtheMantraSadyojata,etc.,andsprinklewaterover
itonehundredandeighttimes.Thenuttertheprincipalmantraandplacethemonaholygroundand
performNyasaoverit,i.e.,thinkthattheGreatCauseShivaandtheWorldMotherBhagavatihave

comeonthem.ThusmaketheSamskaraoftherosary(i.e.,purifyit)andyouwillfindthenthat
yourdesiredendwillbeattainedsuccessfully.WorshiptherosarywiththeMantraofthatDevtafor
whichitisintended.OneistoweartheRudraksharosaryononeshead,neckorearandcontrolling
oneself,oneshouldmakejapamwiththerosaryOntheneck,head,breast,ortheearsoronthe
arms,therosaryshouldheheldwiththegreatestdevotion.Whatistheuseinsaying
aboutitsooften?ItishighlymeritoriousandcommendabletoholdsalwaystheRudraksha.
Especiallyonsuchoccasionsastakingbathsmakinggifts,makingjapams,performingtheHomas,
orsacrificestoVisveDevas,inperformingthe
PoojasoftheDevas,inmakingPrayaschittams(penances),inthetimeofSradhaandinthetimeof
initiation,itishighlynecessarytoholdRudraksha.ABrahminissuretogotohellifhepreforms
anyVaidikactwithoutwearinganyRudraksha.
Note:ItwouldbeofferinganinsulttoShiva!
1529.ItisadvisabletousethetrueRudrakshamwithgoldandjewel,onthehead,neckoronones
hand.NeverusetheRudrakshawornbyanother.UseRudrakshaalwayswithdevotionneveruseit
whileyouareimpure.EventhegrassthatgrowswiththeairincontactwiththeRudrakshatree,
goesverilytoaholyregionforever.JabalaMunisaysintheSruti:IfamanwearingRudraksha
commitsasin,hegetsdeliverancefromthatsin.EvenifanimalsholdRudraksha,theybecome
Shivawhatofmen!ThedevoteesofSriRudra
shouldalwaysuseatleastoneRudrakshaonthehead.Thosegreatdevotees,whowithRudraksha
ontakethenameoftheHighestSelfSambhu,getthemselvesfreedofallsortsofsinsandpains.
ThosewhoareornamentedwithRudrakshamarethebestdevotees.Itishighlyincumbentonthose
whowant
theirwelfaretowearRudraksha.ThosewhoholdRudrakshaontheirears,crownhair,neck,hands
andbreast,getBrahma,Vishnu,andMaheshvaraunderthemastheirVibhutis(manifestations,
powers).TheDevasandallthoseRishisthatstartedtheGotra,theAdipurusas(thefirstchiefmenin
severalfamilies),heldwithreverencetheRudraksha.AlltheotherMunis,thatdescendedfromtheir
families,theardentfollowersofSrautadharma,thepuresouled,heldtheRudraksha.Itmaybe,that
manymightnotlikeatfirsttohold
thisRudraksha,thevisibilegiverofliberationandsowellwrittenintheVedasbutaftermany
births,outoftheGraceofMahadeva,manybecomeeagertotaketheRudraksha.TheMunisthat
aretheJabalaSakhisarefamousinexpoundingtheinestimablegreatnessofRudraksha.
TheeffectofholdingRudrakshaiswellknowninthethreeworlds.Punyam(greatmerit)arises
fromthemeresightofRudrakshatenmilliontimesthatmeritarisesbyitstouchandbywearingit,
onehundredKotitimesthefruitarisesandifonemakesJapameveryday,thenonelakhkotitimes
the
punyamarises.Thereisnomannerofquestioningsinthis.
3036.Hewhoholdsinhishand,breast,neck,ears,head,
theRudraksha,becomesanimageofRudra.Thereisnomannerofdoubtinthis.Byholding
Rudraksha,menbecomeinvulnerableofallthebeings,becomerespected,likeMahiDeva,bythe
DevasandAsurasandtheyroamontheearth
likeRudra.Evenifamanbeaddictedtoevildeedsandcommitsallsortsofsins,hebecomes
respectedbyall,onholdingRudraksha.BythismenarefreedofthesinoftakingUchhistaandof

alltheothersins.Evenifyoususpenda
Rudraksharosaryontheneckofadogandifthatdogdiesinthatstate,hegetsliberation!Then
whattospeakofothers!ByholdingRudraksha,meneveniftheybedevoidofJapamandDhyanam,
becomefreedofallsinsandattainthehigheststate.EvenifoneholdsmerelyoneRudrakshaseed
purified
andsuchargedwithMantraSakti,heupliftshistwentyonegenerations,getstoHeavenandresides
therewithrespect.IamspeakingnowfurtheroftheGreatnessofRudraksha.HereendstheFifth
ChapteroftheElevethBookonthe
RudraksamrosariesintheMahaPuranamSriMadDeviBhagvatamof18,000versesbyMaharsi
VedaVyasa.
CHAPTERVI
121.Isvarasaid...OKartikeya!Kusagranthi,Jivapattriandotherrosariescannotcomparetoone
sixteenthpartoftheRudraksharosary.AsVishnuisthebestofallthePurusas,theGangaisthebest
ofalltherivers,Kasyapa,amongsttheMunis,Uchchaishravaamongstthehorses,MahaDeva
amongsttheDevas,BhagvatiamongsttheDevis,sotheRudraksharosaryistheBestofallthe
rosaries.AllthefruitsthatoccurbyreadingthestotrasandholdingalltheVratas,areobtainedby
wearingtheRudrakshabead.Atthetimeof262ThePowerOfRudrakshaOriginalTextFrom
Puranas&Shastras263makingtheAksayagift,theRudrakshabeadiscapableofgivinghigh
merits.ThemeritthataccruesbygivingRudrakshamtoapeacefuldevoteeofShiva,cannotbe
expressedinwords.IfanybodygivesfoodtoamanholdingtheRudraksharosary,histwentyone
generationsareupliftedandheultimatelybecomesabletoliveintheRudraLoka.Hewhodoesnot
applyashesonhisforeheadandwhodoesnotholdRudrakshaandisaversetotheworshipofShiva
isinferiortoachandala.IfRudrakshabeplacedontheheadthentheflesheaters,drunkards,and
theassociateswiththeviciousbecomefreedoftheirsins.Whateverfruitsareontainedby

withher.Nextwhenhisfather,mothercametoknowaboutthis,heputtodeathinstantlyhisfather
andmother,administeringpoisontothem.Hebecameaddictedtovariouspleasuresandhiswealth
was
exhaustedgradually.HebegantostealinBrahmanshousesandbecameaddictedverymuchto
drinking.Hisrelativesoutcastedhimfromthesocietyforhisbadbehaviourandbanishedhim
outsidethetown.HethenwentintoadenseforestwithMuktavaliandhebegntokilltheBrahmins
for
theirwealth.Thusalongtimepassedawaywhenatlasthefellintothejawsofdeath.
5054.ThentotakehimtotheregionofDeath,thousandsoftheYamasmessengerscameatthe
sametimetheShivasmessemgerscamefromShivaLoka.OKartikeya!Aquarrelthenensued
betweenboththepartiesofYamaandShiva,TheYamasmessengers,then,said:OServersof
Sambhu!Whatarethemeritsofthismanthatyouhavecometotakehim?Firstspeaktousofhis
merits.ShivasmessengersspokeFifteenfeetbelowthegroundwhere
thismandied,thereexiststheRudraksha.OYamasmessengers!Bytheinfluenceofthat
Rudraksha,allhissinsaredestroyedandwehavecometotakehimtoShiva.ThentheBrahmin
Gunaridhiassumedadivineformand,gettingonanaerialcarwentwithShivasmessengersbefore
Shiva.
OOneofgoodvows!ThushavedescribedbrieflytoyouthegreatnessofRudraksha.Thisis
capabletoremoveallsortsofsinsandyieldgreatmerits.

merit.ThemeritinholdingtheRudrakshaisfarsuperiortothatinholdingBhadraksam.The
RudrakshaseedthatisofthesizeofanAmalakiisthebestwhichistheofthesizeofaplum,is
middlingandwhichisofthesizeofagramistheworstthisismywordandpromise.The
Rudrakshatreeisof
fourkinds:Brahmana,Kshattriya,Vaisya,andShudra.ThewhitecolourisBrahmanathered
colourisKshattriyatheyellowcolourisVaisyaandtheblackcolouredRudrakshaseedisShudra.
TheBrahmanasaretousethewhitecolouredRudrakshatheKshattriyas,theredcolouredones,the

piercedbyinsects,brokeninparts,whosethornsarenotclearlyvisible,withswellsandholesand
those
thatarecoatedover,thesesixvarieitiesofRudrakshaarefaulty.ThoseRudrakshathathavetheir
holesbynaturerunningthroughandthrougharebestandthosethathavetheirholespiercedby
menaremiddling.TheRudrakshaseedsthatareallofuniformshape,,bright,hard,andbeautifully
circularshouldbestrungtogetherbyasilkenthread.HowtotesttheRudrakshaseed?Asgoldis
testedbyatouchstonesotheRudrakshaistestedbydrawinglinesonitthoseonwhichthelines
aremostuniform,brightandbeautifularethebestandtheyshouldbewornbytheShivas.One

thethreeAgnis,Daksinagni,
Garbapatya,andAhavaniyaBhagavanAgnialwayspleasedwiththatmanwhowearsthethree
facedRudraksha.ThefourfacedRudrakshainBrahmaHimself.Thewearergetshisprosperity
enhanced,hisdiseasesdestroyed,thedivineknowledgespringsinhimandhisheartisalways
pleased.The
fivefacedRudrakshaisthefivefacedShivaHimselfMahadevagetspleasedwithhimwhoholds
it.ThepresidingDeityofthesixfacedRudrakshaisthesevenMatrikas,theSunandtheseven
Risis.Byputtingonthis,theprosperityis
