At this stage, I have some concerns about the progress of this Pre-service Teacher.
I consider this Pre-service Teacher may be at risk of not being able to meet the requirements of the Australian
-
- Professional Standards for Teachers.
Pleose provide some written feedback regording areas of strength and areas needing improvement.

Professional Knowledge (strengths): Henry is a well prepared and knowledgeable teacher, with a friendly and
approachable disposition towards students, parents, staff and the wider community. He resources required content
knowledge and community links with little support initially to seeking out his own resources (professional contacts,
excursion links and staff within other campuses) within the K.l. community after the initial lead in days.

He is able to work with students at an appropriate level, with consideration of their social and emotional maturity.

He organises lessons into an effective lesson sequence in which students are given the opportunity to demonstrate
prior knowledge (which influences the way in which Henry will choose to adapt a lesson. I.e. extending their
understanding, supporting smaller groups of students), provided with the learning goal, given a range of activities to
interact with on a personal, paired and group level, before recapping and reflecting on their learning.
Development required in the areas of:

Due to the complex nature of a multiyear level class (3 year levels) and several abilities, Henry will
benefit from further work on modifying lessons to suit a wider range of abilities and year levels. He
currently works well during the activity phase to get to those who need support but if planned ahead he
could supply low level ability kids with a task which doesn't require regular teacher intervention.

Professional Practice {strengths):

Henry appropriately uses techniques to gain attention depending on the nature of the lesson (i.e.
counting, clapping). He uses a range of teaching strategies in delivering the lesson content, such as
verbal instruction, participation in dramatic role play from students, key points written on the whiteboard
and paper based materials to consolidate verbal and active lessons.
He is beginning to build lessons with a good balance of active learning and written (sit down) learning,
such as using a local excursion to build skills in time lines/sequencing and classroom lessons on
placing images and events in the correct order on a timeline.

Development required in the areas of:

Henry could try adapting ICT into lessons to engage students and try new ways of teaching. The use of
ICT could minimise the workload on low ability students with regards to reading.
