 ABSTRACT

Safety tools that can provide protection against the dangers of accidents
(Suma'mur, 1991). Or it could be called the fittings must be used when working in
accordance hazards and risks of working to maintain the safety of the workers
themselves and the people around him

Accident is one of the problems for a company. Losses suffered not only a
material loss but the emergence of worker fatalities. Loss of human resources is a
disadvantage for the company because it takes time to search for or educate the
appropriate human resources company. Losses are directly visible from the onset of
occupational accidents are medical expenses and compensation for accidents. While
the indirect costs are not visible damage to the means of production, management
structuring better safety, termination of the means of production, and loss of working
time.

Hence the necessary Safety tools to reduce the risk of accidents at work,
especially in industry. Safety tools is a set of tools used by workers kerjauntuk
protect all / part of the body to the possibility of a potential hazard / accident kerja.
Safety tools used as a last resort in an attempt to protect workers when businesses
engineering (engineering) and can not be done by administrative good.

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background

In Indonesia today has begun to develop industry level. Industrial tool which
is usually done manually, it had been left by resorting to techniques more quickly and
efficiently. However, in addition to quick and efficient, there are still other followers
effects that can not be ignored, such as work accidents increased opportunities and
also diseases that can be caused both to workers and the surrounding environment.

Accident is one of the problems for a company. Losses suffered not only a
material loss but the incidence of fatalities pekerjap. Loss of human resources is a
disadvantage for the company because it takes time to search for or educate the
appropriate human resources company. Losses are directly visible from the onset of

The aim in writing this paper include:

work in the field of industry

1.3.2 to determine the function of Safety tools

1.3.3 to add insight to the public about Safety tools, so that workplace accidents can
be reduced

DISCUSSION

2.1 Definition of Safety tools

Safety tools that can provide protection against the dangers of accidents
(Suma'mur, 1991). Or it could be called the fittings must be used when working in
accordance hazards and risks of working to maintain the safety of the workers
themselves and the people around him.

Safety tools used as a last resort in an attempt to protect workers when

businesses engineering (engineering) and administrative can not be done well.
However, the use of Safety tools is not a substitute for the effort, but as a final effort.

Safety tools should be able to protect users from the dangers of accidents that
may result, therefore, the safety tools selected carefully in order to meet some of the
requirements that are necessary.

Under the terms of Hiperkes Hall, the terms of the Safety tools is:

1. Safety tools should be able to provide strong protection against specific hazards or
dangers faced by workers.

2. Weight of the tool should be as light as possible and the device does not cause
excessive discomfort.

3. The tool should be used flexibly.

4. The form should be quite interesting.

5. resistant protective equipment for long service.

6. The tool does not pose additional hazards to the wearer due form and the danger of
improper or because of their use.

7. The protective equipment must meet existing standards.

8. The tool does not restrict the wearer's movement and sensory perception.

9. Parts spare should be readily available in order to facilitate maintenance.

2.2. Objectives, Benefits, Types and Uses of Personal Protective Equipment

1. Purpose

Protecting the workforce when business engineering (engineering) and

administrative can not be done well.

Improving the effectiveness and productivity of work.

Creating a safe work environment.

2. Benefits

To protect all / part of the body against the possibility of any potential dangers /
accidents.

requirements of the instrument is withdrawn and is not permitted to be used

storage, cleanliness and condition by line management.

3. Each line management must have a record number of employees who have a job

Safety Glasses (Safety Glasses)

1. Safety glasses guarded condition with regular checks concerning the method of
storage, cleanliness and condition by line management.

2. When the officers discovered that the quality of safety glasses do not fit the
requirements they shall be withdrawn and are not allowed to be used.

3. Storage masks should be guaranteed so protected from dust, extreme conditions

(too hot or too cold), humidity or possibility of contaminated hazardous chemicals.

4. Each line management must have a record number of employees who have safety
glasses and have the training.

Shoes Safety (Safety Shoes)

2.When the officers discovered that the quality safety shoes do not fit the
requirements they shall be withdrawn and are not allowed to be used.

Mask / Respiratory Protection (Mask / Respiratory Protection)

1. Respiratory Protective guarded condition with regular checks concerning the

method of storage, cleanliness and condition.

2. When the officers discovered respiratory protective equipment whose quality does
not match the requirements of the instrument is withdrawn and is not allowed to be
used.

3.The condition and cleanliness of respiratory protective equipment is the

responsibility of the employee concerned.

4. Control of the cleanliness of the tool will always be done by line management.

Gloves

1. Gloves guarded condition with regular checks concerning the method of storage,
cleanliness and condition by line management.

2. When the officers discovered that the quality glove does not fit the requirements
they shall be withdrawn and are not allowed to be used.

3. Storage gloves should be ensured so as to avoid dust, extreme conditions (too hot
or too cold), humidity or possibility of contaminated hazardous chemicals.

CONCLUSION

3.1 Conclusion

Wearing safety tools is very important and needed by officers, employees,

Enginering, administrative or anyone who has the risk of accidents or hazards in the
work. Therefore safety tools should really be learned and understood both in its use or
maintenance of safety tools in order to function properly. The following discussion of
the Personal Protective Equipment yourself:

1. Personal Protection Equipment is a device used to reduce the risk of accidental,

rather than eliminate the accident itself.

2. Personal Protection Equipment needed by all levels of society.

3. Personal Protection Equipment must be in accordance with the type of activities

and places of work.

4. personal protection equipment must always be treated so that it can be used in

accordance with the provisions.

3.2 Suggestion

1. Every worker should use protective equipment.

2. Extension of protective equipment to all communities in order to reduce the

accident rate.

3. The use of personal protective equipment should be in accordance with the needs
of the workforce.

4. Monitoring of the protective equipment should be routinely performed, so that the

more optimal use
