J
amian Allen
Jamian Allen, President of the Washington County Association
for Gifted Children, was crucial in formally establishing our
UAGC affiliate in Southern Utah. This was no easy task, and had
been begun by others in 2013, but she persisted and
successfully completed the process in 2015. This contribution
cannot be measured long-term as it has the potential to impact
hundreds or even thousands of students, teachers, and parents
in Washington County, who now have an organization to
advocate for the needs of gifted children, as well as a way to
network with others who care about the gifted community.

As President, Jamian has established a proper pattern for

running the affiliate. She leaves a legacy that will last for years to come. Sh
e has worked diligently
with UAGC in establishing our affiliate. Her hard work and many volunteer hours with the
association, board members, helping in the schools, communicating with administrators, and
working with parents and students have made a real difference in providing support and
resources for gifted children throughout our community.

Jamian has a passion for gifted education and helping others connect with resources to help them and
their families. As a certified educator, she began attending the UAGC conferences to learn more about
this community. As a parent, she was extremely supportive of her children, some of whom have been
identified as gifted. Jamian's support extended to the teachers her children encountered, offering ideas
and resources generously. Her wide-ranging interests and incredible energy are inspiring to those who
know her. She has left a valuable footprint in the gifted community in Southern Utah.
The National Association for Gifted Children Nicholas Green Distinguished Student Award
recognizes excellence in young children. The award is made to a student who is in grade 3
through 5 and has distinguished him or herself in academics, leadership, or the arts.

Mily Hospodarsky
From: Riverside Elementary 4th Grade ALP
Mrs. Green's Class

Mily has moved around a lot because of her father's job and has been adaptable
both socially and academically. She is a natural leader who looks out for others in
the class. Even though she has moved around a lot, she excels academically
(both in math and language arts). Her responses and questions show great depth
and she can fluidly work through computation and application type math
problems. Most of all she loves to learn and come to school where she is an
incredible asset to our class and school.
