Social Media Marketing Audit

(aka Case Study)

Name of Company: Blue Skys Studios Title of Campaign: Peanut Movie Snapchat Sponsored
Lense

Description of Products/Services: Advertisement for the new movie Peanuts

Briefly explain the marketing challenges or objectives that this company faced before implementing
their social media strategy.
-The marketing team for the Peanuts movie decided to use snapchat to advertise and promote the new
movie in hopes of increasing their view ratings as well as gain exposure to the general public.

Who was/are the target market(s) of this campaign?

- The targeting group was the general public, mainly those who may have children in hopes of them
gaining an interest in watching the movie.

What was the key message the campaign was designed to communicate?
- The campaign itself was a promotion for the new movie. It was trying to communicate that this movie
was worthy enough for snapchat to make a filter out of it so people should watch it.

Describe the campaign or social media marketing strategy the company executed.
- They created a specific filter for the general public to use. Those who have a snapchat account will be
exposed to the advertisement but not through a casual commercial, but rather an interactive filter that
users may use and send funny pictures to their friends/family.

What went well? What did they do right?

-They created a well thought out filter that would allow them to get the message put out into the eyes of
the general public that this movie will be in theaters and that they should view it.

What went wrong? What could they have done better?

-What they could have done better was to target specifically those will children ages 6-12. This will make
it seem more appealing to the parent to take their child out to the movies thus increasing their ratings and
views while also increasing revenue for the movie.

What were the results or outcome of the campaign? If it was an unsuccessful campaign, what
takeaways were gained from this experience (for you and/or the company)?
-This was a successful campaign in terms of film ratings and revenue. The movie was not a blockbuster
hit that deserved an oscar, however it did create a fair amount of attention towards the movie that
benefitted the film as a whole than if they did not advertise using Snapchat.
