Geometry Proof Tools Mind Map Instruction

Introduction
You will create a mind map of the theorems, postulates and properties you have learned so far in this class. There are also some
unknown items that you will have to research. You can use lecture notes, the textbook and internet resources to make figure out
which items go in which group. The title of the mind map is "Geometry Proof Tools" and the three categories are "Prove Triangles
are Congruen", "Prove Angles are Congruent" and "Computation Steps". From there, put each item in the correct category. This
will complete our unit and you now have all necessary tools to complete geometric proofs. By organizing these items in to a
graphic organizer, you are able to understand when to use which item when completing geometric proofs.

Step 1
You have been given a list of all the items that need to be included in the map. These are items that you learned before this unit
and during this unit. There are also some items on the list that are unknown. It is your responsibility to find out what these mean
and what category they should be placed in on the map using only the textbook for research. These items are on the list as
abbreviations, you will need to write them out and define them when you put them in the mind map. You will be working in groups
of three to complete your mind map. It will helpful for you to check of the items as you include them in your mind map.

Step 2
When everyone is done, the class will come back together. On the board there will be post it notes with all the
items from the list and there will be a mind map on the board. The unknown items will be post it notes with a
question mark, first we will discuss the answers to those unknowns and then we will begin to create the class mind
map.

Step 3
As I call on your group, each group will send one person up to choose a theorem, postulate or property from the list
and place it in the correct category. After it is full, as a class, we will discuss the answers. If anyone believes that
something is in the wrong place, they will give their argument and a class discussion will begin to make a
determination.

Conclusion
Once it is complete and everything is in the correct spot, student will get a printed copy of the mind map
so they can keep it to study from for future lectures and exams.
