Week 9 of the numeracy plan focuses on multiplication. There are 3 lessons:
1) Students learn what multiplication is through repeated addition using concrete materials. Small groups use blocks to solve multiplication problems.
2) Students learn what an array is through a class discussion and demonstration. Math centers reinforce these concepts.
3) Times tables songs are reviewed along with multiplication language and symbols. Math centers again reinforce these concepts. Assessment includes participation, small group work, and completion of activities.
