Resulting in Battery Discharge Number: 0405
Model(s): Touareg 5.0L V10 TDI (Eng. code BKW) 2004 Date: July 1, 2004

Condition
An Automatic Battery Cutoff Switch (BCS)
(Part No. 7L0943383 or 7L0943383A, Orange
in color) may be connected to the battery and
is located on the floor in front of the drivers
seat.
This device may malfunction causing the
battery to discharge.

Production
On some Touareg V10 TDI vehicles, an
Automatic Battery Cutoff switch (BCS) is used
during the transportation cycle and according
to Technical Bulletin Group 00 number 04-02
dated April 6, 2004 should be removed within
48 hours from delivery to the Customer.
The BCS is Orange in color with Part No.
7L0943383 or 7L0943383A.

Service
On ALL Touareg vehicles with 5.0L V10 TDI:
Verify Orange color Automatic Battery
Cutoff Switch (BCS) is present in the
vehicle.
Immediately remove the Automatic Battery
Cutoff Switch (BCS) using procedures
described in Technical Bulletin Group 00
number 04-02 dated April 6, 2004. DO NOT
wait until 48 hours prior to delivery to the
Customer.

Test the battery as outlined in Technical
Bulletin Group 27 number 03-02 dated June
20, 2003.
Return BCS as outlined in Technical Bulletin
Group 00 number 04-02 dated
April 6, 2004.

Charge or replace the battery within 48 hours


of vehicle receipt according to Battery Test
and Maintenance Procedures In Article 7 of
the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual.
