Canal Vegetation Management:

What You Need to Know

Before
This type of overgrown vegetation
can provide pathways for seepage,
potentially weakening embankments
andin extreme caseseventually
causing embankment failure and
flooding of lands surrounding
the canal.

During
The work mainly involves tree
removal and other vegetation. All of
the work will be done on property
owned by the Canal Corporation.
Measures will be taken to ensure
the work is minimally disruptive to
property owners as well as to the
ecosystem surrounding the canal.

After
All areas that have been cleared
of vegetation will be restored by
establishing a grass surface that
the Canal Corporation will maintain
and regularly mow. Removing this
vegetation will restore the integrity
of the embankments and keep the
communities that surround the canal
safe from potential flooding due to
structural failures.
