Question : 1 Difficulty Level:Medium
Read the passage given below carefully and answer the question.
Jasmine works in the Prime Education Advising Centre. Part of her duties are to help enrol the students for the next semester of the
program. She handles many students everyday. One fine day a student was having a bad day and took her frustration out on Jasmine. She
was not enrolled for the next semester in spite of clearing her previous semester and there was an issue in her mark list too. Her name was
misspelled and birthdate was wrong too. The student was quite upset due to all these issues. Her face could clearly show her anger and
her voice in a high pitch accompanied it. Jasmine understood what has happened. She was busy in preparing the examination documents
but she kept the work aside for this student and her problem. Although she was being verbally attacked, Jasmine maintained a friendly
demeanour, a helpful attitude. She paid attention to what the student said and what is being unsaid. Jasmine also showed her willingness
to listen to the student's needs and demands. Jasmine kept all her present tasks aside and tried to solve the problem of the student. She
took the student to Madhavi who used to prepare mark lists and to Ramesh who was taking care of the records of the students. Jasmine
discussed the problem of this student with them and made sure that it would be sorted out. Madhav and Ramesh promised to look into the
matter and revisit the problem. This calmed the student, and Jasmine was able to reassure her that everything would work out properly.
Then the student left the place satisfactorily. The way Jasmine handled this student, turned the table around. Subsequently, not only did
that student make it a point to be pleasant to Jasmine in the future, but Jasmine's supervisor noted her excellent interpersonal and advising
skills. The supervisor passed on her positive impressions of Jasmine to others in the department. Sometimes the angry customer like the
student here can serve as an opportunity, if you have the skills to take advantage of that opportunity.
