combative.Theybothspentmuchoftheirfreetimetogetherworkingonprograms.Occasionally,they

In1970,attheageof15,BillGateswentintobusinesswithhispal,PaulAllen.Theydeveloped"Trafo

GatesremainedincontactwithPaulAllen,who,afterattendingWashingtonStateUniversityfortwo

Microsoft(GatesandAllendroppedthehypheninlessthanayear)startedoffonshakyfooting.Though
theirBASICsoftwareprogramfortheAltaircomputernettedthecompanyafeeandroyalties,itwasn't

InFebruaryof1976,Gateswroteanopenlettertocomputerhobbyistssayingthatcontinueddistribution
